@chizzy Do your research! He was reported to the police decades ago. His behaviour was an open secret. He spied on everyone through cameras including in toilets. Police bought off. His security bought off. Management bought off. CPS failed an abuse victim by refusing to pursue case. Fayed was IMMENSELY RICH, IMMENSELY POWERFUL AND IMMENSELY SCARY. Stop blaming women and girls, stop victim blaming. Fayed and his enablers are responsible for this appalling behaviour.

Because society shames them or doesn’t believe them, the courts and police re-incriminate the women, it is painful and sometimes unbearable, because they are full of shame and traumatized, they are threatened, killed or ostracized, they can lose their marriages and jobs over an accusation, families get split over these issues, embarrassment without a lot of support . Super lonely process. Lots to read on this subject.

I never know how to feel about women coming out with allegations AFTER someone has passed. Why not speak up before, especially to prevent others from going through the same thing and while the person still has a chance to defend himself/or pay for what he's done
@barbarajones9385Ай бұрын
@mochi It's SO important to get as many facts as possible. There's a theme running through a lot of BTL comments: the accusers are after a pay day, it's a money grab, gold diggers, why did they wait till he died... and so on. In fact there were about TEN attempts going back DECADES by various women to bring Al-Fayed to justice. The complainants were failed by police and CPS. Every time. Al-Fayed was very generous, lavish gifts to the police and others in powerful positions. He was an intimidating figure people did not want to cross. He did settle financially with at least one accuser and made her sign and NDA. He apparently organised for all documentation of his harassment of her to be shredded but she had copies which were sent to her lawyer by email so is able to prove her case. See also exposé in Vanity Fair magazine decades ago. Al-Fayed sued for libel - of course he would - but his male security and others have since confirmed accusations. Dodi died and perhaps this influenced his dropping the case and an agreement being reached. Great shame on Vanity Fair. His behaviour was an open secret. Getting his underlings to scout for young blonde women on the shop floor. The MO was repeated over and over. When you have critical mass as in this case, as in there are now one hundred or so accusers, one has to take accusations seriously. As with Jimmy Saville, hiding in plain sight, open secret, Jekyll and Hyde stuff. Charities, charm, wealth - all covering for the exploitation and ruthlessness. Many people who worked for him enabled him because they feared him. Nobody now seriously doubts Saville was a prolific abuser. It's possible Al-Fayed will come to be seen as an abuser on the same scale once more comes to light.
