The paramedics who attended stayed to stabilise the injured people who then had to be extricated from the damaged car. The survivor of that crash was the only person wearing a seat belt. Drink driving and no seatbelt can have catastrophic consequences. As an emergency nurse I saw those who made it to hospital and working with the coroner I saw the bodies of those who were pronounced dead on scene. Tragic for all concerned.
