Reminds. Me of the story of the 3 legged chicken. A man was driving along the motorway when he noticed a chicken running alongside his car. He was amazed to see the chicken keeping up with him, as he was doing 60 mph. He accelerated to 70, and the chicken stayed right next to him. He sped up to 75 mph, but the chicken overtook him. Then the man noticed that the chicken had three legs. So he followed the chicken, speeding all the way, and ended up at a farm. He got out of his car and saw that all the chickens on the farm had three legs. When he spotted the farmer he asked him, "Where did you get these chickens?" The farmer replied "Well, everybody likes chicken legs, so I bred a three-legged bird. I'm going to be a millionaire." The man was impressed and asked him how they tasted. The farmer said, "Don't know, I haven't caught one yet."

It's really interesting to see how you can push the limits of speed on a bike, and it's best for all of use mortals to only watch Brian's videos and not dare to do what he does. I did an 80 km/h descent before, I could have gone even faster, bat at those speeds on a bike you're just flying meat and I was more scared than excited. You're relying 90% on the fact the pavement is alright, no cracks or holes, your bike is alright and there's no traffic. One small stone or an unforeseen pothole (which I had the pleasure of experiencing at lower speeds) under the front wheel, at that speed, could end everything. Stay safe!

Part of the reason why he's able to go that fast on a bike is because the tunnel shields him from crosswinds that would otherwise slow him down. In additon, the air resistance that would normally slow him down is significantly reduced because the vehicles in front of him are doing that for him as he's moving along, allowing him to achieve comparable speeds as other vehicles on the highway.

when I ran elite in Italy, during training sessions we used to chase back trucks at more that 100Kmph on highways... Despite the danger it was encouraged by trainers since it was considered an optimal excercise for simulating some extreme racing conditions. That is until a car pulled across me at the last second, there was a 30mph speed differential. Luckily it was a Honda with a plasticity bonnet and quite low. I walked away with concussion and stitches to my hands and various minor injuries. My bike took the force of the impact luckily. Bent frame, bent front wheel, chainset snapped in half, bent bars and snapped levers. If you saw the bike you would assume the rider was dead. Through no fault of my own, I narrowly avoided life changing injuries or death. I like this channel, but this is too much. PS. I got a SWEET new bike through the insurance claim! And then quickly got the second fastest decent time on my local big decent. But safely, without a car in sight.

Also disrespect for those driver and other cyclist... very bad example of a good cyclist need to be, when general people talk about the cyclist they have a good one with this behaviour. 100% ilegal ride in Europe.

That's flat out insane! Can't wait till I get a bike where I can get up to those speeds.

A recumbent or velocar can do it with the reduced areo drag pretty easily. However that won't save you if a driver makes a stupid move.

@@garyp.7501 As cyclist we realize the potential for getting hit by a stupid driver is high. We just trust our instincts, skills, and pray the lord has a specialized tarmac in heaven waiting for me.

I don't know what country he was riding in, but the white line on the right looks like a non-motorized lane. I would love to watch him go downhill or chase the speed on a car-free road, but IMHO riding on this kind of urban expressway in the video is very irresponsible for the safety of his own life and the property safety of others.
