In late-November, stripers piled onto the sandbars of Island Beach State Park, New Jersey, feasting on sand eels. Jimmy Fee and Chris Megan followed the striper migration south, hoping to catch their last bass of the season.

surprise surprise...fish are in tight...really not a surprise...put on a boomer 3.5" to 4" floating swim minnow...red tip...white body...some good vmc treble hooks...fish tight to the shore...hold on...bet you'll catch bass when others get strikes at a much slower rate...I've used this pattern for 6 decades...from the beaches of Maine, Cape Cod, to the Jersey shore down to Hatteras...it's a blast...jersey guy here born near the surf of AC...catch and release is good

The bite in 2016 was better just before thanksgiving. Mob scene with people but lots of decent sized fish. If you are trying to film something like this again and need bigger fish I would contact your guide just before thanksgiving if you can get a show in. Weather and bait depending but would be good for you guys to keep in mind. Sorry for all the shorts. Still a great video.

I miss IBSP, gone since 79, was back there two years ago for a beach walk but no fishing. Never fished it in Winter though the 30 years living in NJ.

I'm thinking of a trip to this park....I just want to experience fishing in the surf. I live in upstate NY. Do you have to have a 4WD vehicle to access the beach, or are there places to park and then walk along the surf? The advantage of driving along the beach is huge, but that's not an option for me.

Matthew Beckwith 4WD not needed. There are parking areas along the ten mile access road to park a vehicle. They are driving on it in the beginning of very video. Then walk over the sand dunes which have wood walkways to beach. Walk as much as you want. www.state.nj.us/dep/parksandforests/parks/island.html. Miss it, here in Chicago have Lake Michigan but not the same as Atlantic Ocean. 😰. Special place IBSP.👌💯
