Later summer is already here! This is my favorite time of year.

My favorite is the dead of winter. We don't get any ice, so I can fish all year long in open water.

The fluke has been a productive lure for you. Lanier has been challenging lately. You still managed some quality fish. Keep it up!

Great video of the fish hitting the bait .It was a wild one !

Thanks for noticing! Most people don't realize how hard it is to get good footage of a fish hitting your lure. I'm always excited when I can get the good camera angle and good footage.

Great video. That rattle sound like a rod eye insert popped out? Happen to me many times. Again enjoyed the video. Good luck next time out!

Thanks 👍 yes, the insert came out on the tip. I’ll put on a new tip and be good to go.

Good morning Dana, GREAT vid, and some “SERIOUS @ strikes, the weather is changing and I will still continue to practice with the fluke, been using the caffeine shad as of late, might need to transition over to the zoom fluke, I’ll try both next time, ALSO, I’ve been really BLESSED by throwing the evergreen sb 105, largies “DESTROY” it and that’s what I caught most of my fish with last weekend, give it a try, also, hook wise, I use the Owner st-36’s, the BKK short shanks, and of course the KVD triple grip short shanks, hope this help Amy Brother, be safe , enjoyed the vid 🎣

Thanks Chauncey. I'm going back to Mustad hooks. That is what I use to make all of my jigs and they don't let me down. A few years back someone tried to convince me to use the Evergreen bait, which I did. It will work, but not better than the E Pop. It also costs more than twice as much. I have be thrifty because those dollar bills don't come easy for me. I have learned over the years that it really isn't the bait that catches the fish, it's what you do with it.

The inner part of one of the eyes on the rod came out . Look close it will be laying on one of the eyes
@FCPFishing3 ай бұрын
You are correct, my old eyes couldn't see the insert because it's a tiny micro guide. I put a new tip on and it should be good to go.

I love getting out early and throwing topwater to start but I get too impatient if they don’t bite. Need to give it more time. I’ve got another tourney coming up on a lake with a lot of subsurface weeds and docks. Will be working something topwater to start and then switching to a fluke around the docks. Bummer about the rod good to have a backup.
@FCPFishing3 ай бұрын
I've learned to stick with the topwater, it always pays off for me. Same thing with the fluke. I work the fluke down the shady side of the dock and they come out and hammer it.

Doctor visits suck. Glad you are back on the water. Maybe that rod needs to go to the doctor.
@FCPFishing3 ай бұрын
Wait until you start to get a little older. The suck just gets multiplied. I replaced the tip on the rod, the insert had come out of the guide.

That is an ongoing process. I used Hayabusa hooks, but I had two of them break. I now have Gamakatsu’s, but they are too soft. I’m trying to buy from local stores, but the selection is pretty bad. Guess I’ll have to order them. I use Mustad hooks on all my jigs, so I’ll get those.

It is strange for them to be that shallow in such hot weather. A lot of other fishermen would not look there, and miss a lot of good fish. The couple of times my rods made that noise, the guide insert, or the entire guide came loose.
@FCPFishing3 ай бұрын
It was indeed the insert, so I replaced the tip and it works fine. I have seen you hand out business cards when fishing, can I ask what info you have on the cards? I think that is a good idea and I may do the same.

Do you put a weight on your flute
@FCPFishing3 ай бұрын
I mention in the video several times that I was using a weightless fluke. Just a 5/0 hook and a small swivel up the line about 2 feet to help prevent line twist.
