Late Winter Bass Fishing on Lake Gaston... Caught a STUD!

Talk about some crazy morning action!! This winter hasn’t been huge for numbers…..but the size is there! Got on a sweet bite as soon as we hit the water on Lake Gaston this past Sunday. Jigs and jerk baits got the job done for us - and I caught a 6.7 lbr in the first 15 minutes.
Lake Gaston is where Ace and I first got our feet wet bass fishing and it will always be one of my favorite places to fish. We have spent hundreds of hours out there, and while we’re no pros and we don’t know the entire lake, we generally do not feel “lost”. Truthfully, it’s been years since Ace and I have gotten out on Gaston to fish together, and I’m really happy we had the chance to do that this past weekend.

If your looking down the creek from the bridge u can go down the creek farther or go in that cove w/ the island if u go left my house is right across the island on the left side of pea hill looking from the bridge

Nice video guys. Quick tip on the scale and app. try using the Tournament Culling feature to keep track of your best 5. Just turn on scale, pair up scale to app, hit the start button on the bottom of the tournament page.

Awesome bro, I was going to fish a BASS event on Gaston in 2 weeks but I decided not to, this video has given me some insight on what they're doing and I'm sure it will help the rest of my fishing club who fish the event all though a lot may change in 2 weeks but we will see. Bull run was ridiculous today with that wind! Do you even bother fishing in your boat being that it's 12 ft in those kinds of winds? I find it tough in winter cuz it's so mainlake oriented. I actually have a tournament with the B.A.S.S NC high school western division February 26th. We are hoping to do good and place high to push us up in points for the trail. would be awesome. got any advice? we are not to familiar with the lake, I myself have only fished it once with pretty good success

Start checking feeder creeks secondary points and flats for fish. Areas with shallow water next to deep water, etc etc. Jigs, shakey heads, jerkbaits....alabama rig if it's allowed. Hope it helps.
