Hey everyone! Here's the next episode of Three-For-All with 3 Yngwie Malmsteen Licks From 1984. This is technically the second Three-For-All episode surrounding Yngwie's playing style, and I've also featured him in two Chordplay lessons and an episode of Breaking Chords in the past, so while this isn't the first time we've looked at his legendary music and playing style, there are some great ideas hiding in this episode - so let's dive in!
The licks/ideas shared in this lesson came from an Alcatrazz live performance in 1984 from Japan, which wasn't too long before Yngwie left the group to begin his solo career and released his debut 'Rising Force' just a few months later. The ideas featured here include a slick tapped bending phrase, a frantically tapped pedal-point idea, a crazy sweep-picked melodic arpeggio phrase, and an authentic classically-influenced cadence that will surely keep your fingers busy for a while.
There's no question that Yngwie is an important neo-classical rock/metal guitar legend and pioneer, as there are plenty of things you can learn from his inspiring music and bag of tricks, and there are a few of those elusive ideas hiding in this lesson!
