Dude, being from Houston and being in the music scene in the early 80s and 90s to this day, they are my favorite band and dUg is my favorite singer ever! I have met all the members, actually used to play with the ex members of atomic opera that had Sam Taylor as their manager and I’m a huge Galactic Cowboys fan as well. I’ve already told my wife the day I go to meet my maker all my King’s X music go with me. All the guys are really genuine, very cool individuals. 🤘🏽 Nice picking sir👏🏻

Good stuff man. I am a fan as well. They are great songwriters and complement each other. Proof… that when a musician (or any human being) who throws their ego into the desert… can find attack water drop by drop until the water begins to flow.

I met Will in 1993 in Reno, Nv. We met in a music store (of course) and I was buying a G&L ASAT. I recognized him, but we just talked about music stuff for about 20 minutes and the only time i mentioned that i knew who he was was near the end of the conversation when i said how much i liked the new record and his use of the ring slide. He said thank you, and we moved right past it to talk about guitar stuff.

Well-played, sir! Nice fat tone and clean execution. To your point about people getting into Holdsworth gradually--I was pretty much an instant fan, myself. Like a lot of Gen X guitarists, I first heard him on that little flexi-disc insert of "Devil Take the Hindmost" in Guitar Player in 1985(?). I was a big Van Halen fan, and when I heard Allan, my first reaction was basically, "Wow, this guy's like Eddie--except he's even better!" Which I wouldn't have thought was possible. (And don't get me wrong, I still love Eddie, LOL!) But anyway, I liked Allan right away. Which is probably further proof, if it were needed, that I'm a big weirdo, LOL

While this is an excellent video, I believe there may be a slight inaccuracy. Tony Iommi has stated in numerous interviews that his primary influence for Black Sabbath’s heavy rock sound was Jimi Hendrix. As far as I know, he has never mentioned Eric Clapton or Jimmy Page as a major influence in that context

This video demonstrates the skills of a true master and professional who, with his knowledge, confirms the importance of Mr. Jimi Hendrix's guitar playing. It's a clear rebuke to those casual commentators who, with no understanding of music or guitar, dare to criticize Jimi.

I'm working through his book "Modern Chord Progressions" right now, and the section of the video at 5:14 nails the feeling right on the head. Working through each progression in the book feels like having an intimate 1-on-1 lesson with Ted Greene, where he's right there guiding me. The man was a genius, and just by opening up to any page and playing through a few progressions, it's apparent. Need to check out Chord Chemistry at some point, I've heard a lot.

I really enjoy the chord voicing and your willingness to spell them out at times.I apreciate your statement about not getting hung up on the what it is when you start. Hear, read.and do.The spelling will happen.

Hey gang, not a big deal, but I did notice that I ended the last lick in this lesson differently than Rich did. I went up to grab the final Bb note, while he went down to grab it. Like I said, not a huge mistake, but I always try my best to play these licks the way they were performed. Anyway, it's the same note, just a different way of getting there! ROCK ON! 😏👍

I met Dave Hlubek when he was with SRA (Southern Rock Allstars), my brother's band opened for them. My brother barrowed my guitar, Dave signed the back of it for me. He and Jackson Spires (Blackfoot) invited me to set at his table after the show, and talked to me like we where old friends!!

David I'd like to request an under the radar player named Michael Gurley of the band dada. It's a 3 piece so he fills a lot of sonic space. Super tasty & inventive. Check him out & thank me later! LOL

David, you overlook a great british guitarist named Andy Partridge from a band called XTC, from the late 70s/early-mid 80s. He had some great ideas. One particular tune I was listening to a few days ago called Life Begins At The Hop features the most unexpected chords by Partridge, if you single them out with a discerning ear. He was quite the guitar player without being too flashy doing solos. I would really like if you would listen to the albums Drums and Wires, Black Sea, and English Settlement, at least. You shouldn't be disappointed. Cheers!

He was never overlooked to me .... I saw Kansas several time and had front row at the little Stanley theater in Pittsburgh in 1975 ...I was so moved to watch Rich Williams' playing style....He wasn't a riff player, and he wasn't really a lick player, He played these tight, intricate lines that really gave the band that needed dimension. Thanks for bringing attention this awesome musician.
