This has to be one of the best interviews I’ve seen of Jodie. I think she’s lovely in all of them, but the host tends to set the tone for the audience, and Seth did a great job keeping it light and fun. one of the few British actors from a working class background making it in the industry. We need more. The class imbalance amongst actors in the British film & TV industry (at least among the internationally recognized works) is unbelievably skewed towards those from rich, privileged backgrounds. No wonder so many Americans watch British actors on screen and think we all talk like Colin Firth and Hugh Grant (when hardly any of us in the wider British population talk like that).

Ellen wasn't helping the interview, she seemed like she didn't want to be there so the audience wasn't psyched up for Jodie. Guests usually are very different than Jodie when they come on. Usually guests show up and tell Ellen how much they love her and the show and Ellen responds by playing it up for the guest and getting the crowd involved. Jodie doesn't know Ellen so she just showed up looking to be interviewed. I think maybe Ellen didn't like it that she wasn't getting her ass kissed by Jodie telling her how much she loves her and the show. So Ellen sat there like she was dead and so did the audience.
@kf1705 жыл бұрын
th2k that’s a very good point. I mean i would think all interviewers and interviewees At least talked before the filming. That interview with Ellen felt like they were just meeting for the first time. I do think Ellen can be a bit of a narcissist, not intentionally, but it’s just from being in the spotlight for so long. I’m sure she she hears praises and, like you said, gets her ass kissed all the time. Jodie certainly doesn’t seem like the type who would kiss up to other people, no matter how famous. She’d admire, but definitely not kiss up. With that said, I find it hard to believe Jodie didn’t know who Ellen was.
