The 60s had stricter rules. Plus doing things like no look passes and behind the back dribbling were considered unprofessional. That's why they loosened up everything in the 80s, to make it look more exciting and sell the game better. It ushered in the start of aggressive sports marketing.
@billny337 жыл бұрын
But didn't Bob Cousy have some no look passes and behind the back dribbling skills? Was he somehow an exception because Red Auerbach was cool with Cousy's brand of showmanship? I also was under the impression that it was actually Dr. J and the ABA that forced the NBA to become a little more flashy. Erving going to the NBA especially forced their hand. I still maintain that a young Julius Erving was the most spectacular NBA player of all time. I find his highlights in the 77 Finals more entertaining than anything MJ ever did, and I was born in 1983 and grew up idolizing Jordan. KZbin has helped me see the light of Dr. J.

yeah but had like games withh 100% ft, let's say like 11/11 or 18/18. So he could shoot them, the nba didn't want him to be too accurate. Wilt was the only guy who had to play to the standard of his competition because otherwise it would be russell with 6 rings and wilt with five or more. If he wanted to he would average 2 or 3 skyhooks from deep EASY. The most dominant player probably in any sport, maybe gretzky comes close, but wayne didn't lower his level of play to be closer to the rest like wilt did. Wilt would have hard times every time he blew out the celtics or knicks or lakers, because at the time people didn't tend to be in awe of a freak of nature, they just saw him as a freak. Shaq had it soooooo easy it's not even a debate.

Unlike many of The "Bigs" in todays game he was very controlled and precise with his movements. The "PAINT" was his Domain and very few "Hotdogs" flourished there where he and other Centers of his era handled their business. His Speed could run anybody down the length of the Court and his Cardio/Endurance was Off The Charts. While "Freak" is used by most to describe The "Entity" known as Wilt "The Stilt" I prefer "Phenom" Still waiting to see Who or What even comes close to him if ever we will Witness another Player of his caliber.

@viktorkopinc40555 жыл бұрын
@@nictartaglino5622 he would brake his airness into head, legs and the out stretched cocked hand with the ball. Gus johnson had that encounter and mike would be fucked up even more. A study that was carried out from the 60's to the 90's have shown that the average man is 14-18% weaker than the guys from the 60's, because of sugar the way of life and scientifical advancements which have made as weaker than our father. Like i'm 25 now and to be as strong as my dad i'd have to climb walls just like he did, but i'd have to do it for the rest of my life to genetically modify my tendons and ligaments. +Connor Baskett We shouldn't forget the physicsl ability that Wilt had either. The guy is 7'1 without shoes (shaq was measured with), had a 7'8 wingspan, could clear a 6'6 high jump bar, had amazing sprinting ability and was bench pressing 500. What else is that the guy actually had a skillset to go along with his athletic ability, with that being said I just can't see Shaq being able to beat Wilt.

+Connor Baskett thats total Bullshit SHAQ is strong YES!! but i never seen shaq Deadlift 625lbs an bench press 500lbs to 600lbs an clean an jerk 375lbs like wilt the stilt did ok i didint see it but still this is the Greatest Basketball player in NBA history Micheal is Number 2 behind Wilt the Stilt. i also believce if curry played in wilts era against guys like him an oscar he wouldint be scoring from half court against those Guys like he does today instead he get picked up at the half court mark curry would still be a star but not what he is today in the non hand check soft defense era.

Sal Amander lol fuck off wilt played with skinny white short boys and a shitty era where you can camp in the paint the whole game. shaq would easily dominate wilt no question

They have a surprising chemistry. Not like they are best friends, but they play off each other very well. Subtle thing, but it definitely makes a big difference for talk show guests

In the year 2035, long time retired NBA greats like LeBron James, Steph Curry and James Harden believe that 2030s NBA is soft and that they wouldn’t survive in the 2010s NBA

Wilt's right though. They were kicking the crap out of Jordan in Jordan's era. People didn't let you just take the ball right down the lane all nice and easy like. They'd knock you down and make you think twice before going into the paint again. Defense was a big thing and it was a much tougher era.
@funlabd29634 жыл бұрын
What Wilt was saying was valid though. His era was highly a "conform to this, conform to that type." But that doesn't mean Jordan will be a "bum," in his era. He still remains one if those "timeless" athletes.

Wilt was, by far, the greatest athlete in the history of the NBA. No one else is even close. I'm not sure if he was entirely human. But even if he is mostly human, his ancestors made a stop by Mt Olympus at some point.

Epic Sauce Jordan weighed between 190-220 in his career. His average playing weight probably was around 205-210 in his prime years in the NBA.

The first person to bench 600 pounds was Pat Casey in 1967. According to this interview Wilt was probably the best powerlifter of his time, even though he didn't train specifically for it, and we were just unlucky that he never filmed himself breaking records at his gym
@williammiller55324 жыл бұрын
Yeah that’s how you know he is lying he probably couldn’t even press near 500, It is impossible for someone who played basketball his entire career to bench 100 lbs than a world record without even training for it or specializing in it
