Tango - Spellbound

Haven't uploaded a classic tune in quite some time, but lately I've been listening to a lot of old Creative Wax tunes, so here goes: The label was launched back in 1992 by the mighty DJ Pulse, and has been one of the key players in the evolution of Jazzstep throughout the 90's. Now more than 20 years later Pulse and Madcap are planning to relaunch the label, with releases forthcoming by longtime contributors Alex Reece and Wax Doctor, alongside new talents such as Furney and Madcap. I'm definitely looking forward to all the new stuff they've got planned for us, but untill then enjoy this straight up masterpiece from '96, by the legend that is Tango. The "Furney Re-edit" of this absolute classic tune will be their first new release, so keep an eye out!

There was a cellphone provider in Austria in the early 2000s, simply called "ONE". Tango's "Spellbound" was their signature tune, meaning that everytime you called their service hotline, this song was playing in the waiting loop. The song was also present in their early TV ads (here's an example: /watch?v=7eaS0LcdkYE). I had a prepaid card from ONE back then, and always enjoyed calling their service line just for fun, so that I could listen to this awesome track. It took many years for me to find out the track title, but when I finally found out, I bought the Kruder & Dorfmeister DJ Kicks CD and listened to it over and over. It really means something special to me and will always remind me of my awesome childhood!
