He misbehaved a lot. I also will not forget his parents coming in and telling me I wasn’t going to be telling their son what to do, and yelling in my face. They're teaching racism in school, the child is black, and the teacher is white. This is the result! This is when the government is taking the fear of God in public schools. We're always blaming the gun violence, the parent who did not hide this gun from her 6-year-old should be blamed. I wished the 6-year-old just took poison and drank it until he die because his parents can't hide the deadly weapon from his 6-year-old and so she can't hide a deadly gun. Teach your children that black kids are oppressed by white people who brought a Christian religion! Teach them that they're always bullied and expect no respect from them! Teach them all hatred against the white founding fathers of this country, and blame this violence on guns! I have a pre-k strangling another student almost killing him. So if your kids are turning into criminals at a younger age, blame it on your education and security system. Blame it on your parents too!

More importantly, what kind of parents raise their child to be a feral, anti-social little beastie, who thinks shooting someone is a legitimate way to deal with a disagreement? What sort of "culture" did this child come from? I think everyone knows the answer to this question, but nobody is addressing it, because "CuRrEnT YeAr ReAsOnS". I grew up in the 1960s and 1970s in WV--EVERYONE had firearms in their homes, and nobody had gun safes or trigger locks. And yet somehow, kids didn't go around shooting up schools or each other. Perhaps, it's not "ability for children to get a gun" that is the issue. Perhaps if parents didn't raise angry, hateful, feral beasties who consider violence to be a proper way to deal with disagreement, this issue would stop. It wasn't a problem 30 or 50 years ago when everyone's dad kept his pistol in the dresser and his shotgun and deer rifle in the hall closet. This isn't about "access to guns"--it's about lack of access to humanity and civility for these children, because their parent's are sociopathic narcissists...

Everytime my colleagues and I would deal with a very difficult and troubled juvenile as soon as we would meet the parents we would all look at each other with the same thought in mind, "Now we know why this kid is like this". A six.year old that is able to gain access to a loaded gun, or worse yet knows how to load it, and then has the ability to take the weapon to school and deliberately shoot an individual is not a child problem, it is a parent problem. The lack of supervision and safety measures regarding this weapon speaks to a level of negligence that is unbelievable. Clearly the parent(s) need to be held responsible. A very common occurrence in public, whether it be inside or outside, is parents letting their children run around as the parents aren't keeping a close enough eye on the kids or are yelling at their kids from a distance instead of quickly going to control the kids. The kids are at risk of injury and damage, but lots of times when businesses and bystanders notify the parents about the kids' behavior, the parents don't show enough responsibility to stop their kids' behavior and get the kids to follow them closely, along with any punishing. Plus, there's always bound to be parents who put the blame on a business or innocent bystander when their kids get hurt or do damage, when it was preventable the whole time if the parents had been responsible enough. Parents can even have devices in the house that are hazardous to younger kids and are not suitable for kids of all ages, but the parents end up not hiding it in a safe place or locking it in a safe place, causing kids to get a hold of it. That's another situation when some parents feel they're not at fault.

Understanding consequences is what children do not comprehend. This is sad and terrifying. Many questions to answer besides the obvious, how did the child get a gun and why was it not missed. Plenty of families have guns in the US and they aren't criminals or irresponsible people (normally). Plenty of families have kids who don't take after anyone with their behaviour. Has it been confirmed the gun belongs to a member of the family? This is only the beginning. Why would a child want to shoot their teacher? There are plenty of families that teach their kids others aren't the same as their family and not to look on others as equal. There are also families that are out right violent. What's in this little kid's head? Why did he think his only means to changing the situation was by force, shooting someone, and what put the teacher on that path in his head? In Africa, children have been taught by army and rebel groups to kill at a young age so it's not new that this happens but terrible it has arrived in the US.

I can't speak for every instance but would like say something about what you posted. Obviously, threatening harm to others speaks of a child with behavioral problems and I do hope the district pays for a behavioral analysis for said children in their care and develop functional behavioral plans for said children. Back to my main point, just because a child has "behavioral problems" does not indicate an "abusive home". My son is autistic and has behavioral problems with a learning disability and will bruise himself due to his stimming. My son also lacks spatial awareness, impulse control and DOES have behavioral modification plans in place. I'm sure your wife knows what I am referring to. Not every child who has bruises are being abused especially if they repeatedly punch, bang their heads, scratch, or any body focused disorder for self soothing. I say this because I've had to be prepared for "the looks" when my son shows up with bruises on his forehead from his autistic meltdowns or running into things at full speed. He is well loved and supported by his parents and myriad of specialists that see him, he still has his days. Sorry for the long explanation. Just not all cases are what they appear.

This reminds me of a case that happened way back in 2000. This kid actually isn't the first 6 year old to intentionally shoot someone. Back in 2000, a 6 year old boy shot and actually killed one of his first grade classmates after telling her, "I don't like you." The little girl's name was Kayla Rolland. The boy wasn't held criminally responsible due to his age, but the adults who he lived with at the time were charged with some kind of negligence. Hopefully this kid's parents/guardians will be investigated and held accountable for this. And I hope the teacher continues to make a full recovery.

I thought they were there to help but there's no trust when it's a revolving cast. Maybe my family is just unlucky but we have never encountered a helpful social worker.

This is sickening and I'm tired of seeing everyone vilify this 6 year old child like an adult. This is a 6 year old child people. SIX. HES SIX YEARS OLD. to think that a 6 year old should be or could be imprisoned is INSANE. ITS INSANE. of course there must be consequences for the actions however law enforcement should have absolutely nothing to do with it. The courts should have zero weight. This child's parents bear some responsibility. How could their six year old get a gun and bullets to do this with. Even if she were my sister,even if it were me,I would NOT desire to see criminal prosecution for any 6 year old kid.

The fact a 6 year old has this much anger and violent nature means his upbringing is very very bad..something is being displaced onto him and the carelessness of him knowing how to open and use the weapon. Idk what this baby has went through but the parents should be questioned right now. That’s kindergarten first grade ages! I hope the teacher makes it through❤

Yes that he felt that he could use that gun against somebody that he didn't like is the most astonishing part about this whole entire thing. Most 6-year-olds would never be so enraged as to plot out to bring a gun to school and then to use that gun on a teacher. This child had to have been taught that that's what you do, you don't like someone ..you shoot them.

The registered gun owner is supposed to be responsibly securing the firearm away from children. I expect the registered owner to be fully responsible for the child getting access. Possible/probable that this gun was a "illegal" or whatever they're called when someone acquires a gun illegally.
@fauxque50572 жыл бұрын
Now back to reality. No parent expects their kid to have a firearm at that young age. They aren't going to strip search their child every time he comes and goes from the house. The problem is up to the gun owner. It's their responsibility to make sure that their gun does not fall into the hands of children. How many times has a kid found a gun in the house and smoked a sibling, themselves, or parent? If people would be responsible then kids wouldn't have access to firearms. There's also good reason to not let the children know the combination, or where the key is for the gun safe. 10 year old got a gun from the safe and smoked his mother for not buying him a VR headset. Then after he killed her he went on Amazon and ordered it anyways. He'll never get a chance to see it since he's getting a dose of Virtual Reality for real now

The worst part is not the lack of the school alerting you via text of the situation or the lack of metal detectors; the worst part is that a teacher was shot by her 6-year-old student, and that 6-year-olds should not have any way to access and carry a firearm. Unbelievable.

The crazy thing is that you shouldn’t need a metal detector for 6-year-olds but I understand what you mean. Things need to change because gun safety and mental health are not prioritized at all. The city MUST be held responsible and take care of the kids and teachers at their schools.
