I liked Cahna in the role he filled for the Mets a couple of years ago. Do I like Canha as a 1b option, even in a platoon? NO. He just doesn't have power now. And that, I think, is the missing ingredient for the Mets right now. The power bat behind Lindor and Soto. I don't think Canha fills that.

Disagree with wordy on this one. I don’t wants a 35 year old washed up,outfielder with a weak bat. As it is we have an aging Nimmo who frankly isn’t hitting like a left fielder. A weak hitting cf and a so so dh. Lots of weakness offensively. Plus we still have marte. No we dont want canna. We need Alonso and still could use another hitter.

It's called depth, not every signing is in every day player. Also Nimmo is still a top 10 LF with great eye and solid pop, only real concern is the feet problem

You sound like a PR guy who's working for Cahna AND the Mets. This is PURELY a leverage tactic to convince Alonso that they have options at first base. Boras is probably telling Alonso that the Met's aren't trading for Mountcastle OR Torkleson. He's probably telling Pete to call their bluff, sit tight, and wait them out. The Met's counter-move is to use Cahna as their other option. They are trying to show some other option without having to follow through on their bluff and trade valuable minor league pieces for someone NOT named Cease or King.
