In the aviation community, we call it the impossible turn. He was most likely losing his engine. He was at 900 ft. You’re going to lose altitude when you make that turn and usually stall the aircraft. If anyone ever wanted to know why we’re at full power in a climb, it’s because altitude is your friend.

Yup, the impossible turn at a low altitude and he stalled it. Vans RV’s are actually very safe and reliable, so experimental is just a classification. The Cirrus SR20 is one of the safest planes and it was originally an experimental aircraft.

The pilot responsibility is to fly you safely from destination A to destination B, but unfortunately, he can not guarantee your safety during the flight, the plane takeoff and landing! Therefore, if you are passenger on board the flight, your life is in the pilot's hands unfortunately!

My guess is that he had engjne trouble after takeoff and attempted what we call in aviation "the impossible turn". Too low and slow, trying to make it back to the runway, plane stalled and spun. Incredibly sad😞.

I remember when the AOG technics scandal dropped and people were anticipating this: a lot of plane disasters in the news. Though.. I expected they’d mention the company more. It’s disappeared but the effects are long lasting.. lasting as long as we do not take every plane affected out of commission (expensive- disastrous in itself for those looking to keep profits up.)

Small plane crashes from municipal and county airports are far too common. Taxpayers are subsidizing a luxury for the wealthy that's subjecting them to an unnecessary risk. They're charging peanuts to use the airports while the land could be generating a lot more in tax revenue. Increase the rates to a fair market value. Demand will drop then most of the airports can be shut down and turned into high density housing. If they want to learn how to fly or use a plane as a toy then they can do it in unpopulated areas. If they want to use an airport in the city then they should be charged city rates.
