LATEST UPDATES: Indonesia announces investigation into Malang football disaster

Indonesia will establish an independent fact-finding team to investigate a stampede at a football stadium in which some 125 people, including more than a dozen children, died.
Indonesia’s coordinating minister for political, legal and security affairs, Mahfud MD, said the investigation into Saturday night’s tragedy in Malang, following a league game between arch rivals Arema FC and Persebaya Surabaya FC, would aim to work out what happened and identify the perpetrators.

The police isnt responsible for the locked gates its arema management. Abdul Harris, Arema official match organizer and Suko Sutrisno a security organizer of Arema which is responsible for the locked gates of the stadium.

The security organizer of the match is the guy who should have checked all exits are opened is a guy called Suko Sutrisno, he has the key.

Yes,, you're right,, the police fired tear gass to the supporters on the tribune who did nothing but seeing the chaos on the field.. as you know,, stadium can be classified as confined space where access to entering/leaving the tribune is limited. So when the police fired the tear gass to the tribune, you can imagine how chaos started because people rushed to the narrow exit gate just to find the gate was locked.. so the disaster happened.

Yes there are no bonek because it was one of the reccomendations from the police to the organizers. There was also agreement between bonek and aremania to not attend the match. 1. To move the match earlier to the day but ends up only move 30 minutes earlier. 2. To have less capacity of around 70-80% (38000) because of covid protocol of the maximum capacity of 42,449.

@@khairulamri6637 The use of tear gas are permitted by security officer under the regulation (from ombudsman indonesia investigation) to secure match riots. Pssi regulations and the police in this case have differences with Fifa rules. Hence that fifa regulation is mute in this case. The use of tear gas have been used before in 2018.

Pertandingan antara Persebaya vs Arema. 23 tahun Persebaya tidak pernah memengankn pertandingan ini.dan kali ini Arema kala 3-2. Usai pertandingan tim dari Arema kumpul di tengah lapangan,seorang supporter Arema menghampiri tim Arema dan mnanyakan knp kalah.setelah itu beberapa rekan mereka turun kelapangan dan memprotes keras kpd pemain.akhirnya ribuan fans turun ke lapangan dan polisi berusaha membubarkan tp mereka malah brutal. Suasana panik polisi tembakkan gas air mata membuat fans berusaha keluar stadion. Di situlah tragedi trjadi mereka berdesakan dan akhirnya jatuh korban meninggal sebanyak 125 orang.
