I'm glad you liked it. Your comment sort of prompted me to make this one.

Just went out and tried it, works nicely. I normally use 12mm ground rod, but any misalignment tends to chew out the hole. Never been a fan of dial gauges but this was easy enough. My gang blocks are home made and drilled and reamed insitu so they should be in a known position all the time. The one I tested was 0.5mm out compared with the numbers stamped on it. This was done many years ago now so with various belt changes on the X axis this may have changed. Will do a complete check all three holes once the lathe is not setup to run a job. Thanks Franco

I'm glad you liked the video. "..insitu..." Are you of a medical background?

Franco, only when I visit my doctor. It is just that in place did not quite seem to be right. LOL

I'm now considering getting one of these machines (chucker like the ne in this video or regular old sherline lathe) to get into watch making. Would you happen to know what kind of backlash the machine produces in the x and z? Also, what happened to your drill bit chart at 3:10 :D ?

maxwil7 Hi. Backlash is less than .001" on X and Z. I like the lathe and I think the slideways are really good. At one point, I had a box with a vent fan on the bench and the chart was sticking to it and blocking the flow. I had to trim it.

Have you thought about using your quick change holder , for your threading and the turning tool?

I've thought about it. I may end up mounting the QC tool post some day.

How do you adjust the tool height for the other tools?

The round shank tools seem to be right on the money out of the box. The cut-off was also perfect out of the box. The square shank tool was a 10mm metric the I milled down to .375" and I was able to get it "just right". However, were it not, I'd put some shim stock under it.

another way would be to get some precision ground 12mm rods.and chuck one in the collet. ( quick and easy way
