@@ryanm4169 Not in practice, the development team is shackled by management and their ever overriding directive of increasing profits for investors and ceo's. They also need to have meetings after meetings to discuss everything they put into the game, getting approval (which is made harder/impossible if they want to change or remove something a higher up added), getting marketing to agree, possibly consulting the legal team, making budgets, estimating profits, planning schedules and I'm sure I'm forgetting several things. A modder can just sit down and do the work before the devs have even managed to get everyone into the first meeting.

Overmind start while seeking the unique 'psionic' path would be fitting, but I'd love to see them do a parasitic run where they focus on chokepointing on hollowed out worlds too; a sort of tall playstyle that focuses on bullying/cowing others.

looks awesome!! But also the empire you created seems powerful too! After a while you'll get insane pop growth with hollow worlds ,super hive mind planets giving growth speed, other bonuses ... and with super districts, massive housing capabilities which will be filled quickly, spawning more queens, spawning more larvae AND pops :O

From a mechanics standpoint, it might make sense why you'd limit an empire to only one of the ascension paths, but story-wise an empire could genetically modify it's members while also robotically enhancing them, while also discovering their psionic abilities, and having a hive mind connection

Oh my gosh. Not only are you playing one of my favourite mods, but you're playing my favourite setup with it! I _strongly_ recommend getting the 'Autonomous Drones' civic once you research the tech to get an extra one, as that solves _so many_ problems I've had with population and micro-management, and even most resource problems simply because drones fill in jobs almost instantly. I wouldn't take it as a starting civic, since you generally don't need it early-game, and it's not super difficult to manage your empire until you get that extra civic slot.

The more I play mods the more I see how games do need their community and how they are an essential part on how the game should progress and be enjoyed by the people. Not only that, all these mods are an insane source of inspiration for the creators. While I agreee they cant add everything obviously and they also also must keep it balanced they should definitely take a look to the mods.

The hollowing project works great for an assimilation planet. The Warrior den produces soldiers and hunter seeker drones. So i usually dump all my assimilation targets to it. And all the soldiers really amp up naval capacity.

Acually seems really balanced, plays to hive's strengths, and allows them to compete, or even be friendly, with other empires and gives you a reason to ever play hives. Also organic ships existed before as a mod and was horrendously broken, they make it work really well

Scourge, has Brood Queens, spawns larvae used in most things, cheaper things, can infest, has Abathur as a voice, has Overmind as an origin. This screams Starcraft so much XD Holobiont is also kinda Starcraft, in that beside the hive and the gas building, every Zerg structure needs creep, and without it, the structures slowly die. 36:00 No? It says 3 base + 1.75 from planetary features, which is 4.75, and only then modified by % based, so the 20% is nothing compared to the essentially 58% increase in base production. Also we didn't see what the city district type gives, since the distric is different even in ecumenopoli the city district is about twice as much housing per district, among other things. This can potentially be a really strong empire. The terraformation is slow (30 years), but mostly free (2000 food). But even without it, you can still get the remote drones with 30% extra habitability. The bio ascension path seems like an alternative to the Structure/Brood Queen civic in terms of pop-growth. Also sounds stupid on Ring World start, 1 queen per 50 pops and 1 assembly per 30 pops, or full pop growth hollow planet, with the civic for free self-resettlement means you hardly need to worry about constantly moving the pops from it, as it essentially massively speeds up the pop growth on other planets. (+2 per district, at 25 size planet (5 districts for housing, for example), somewhat costly, but that is essentially 50 pop growth, so you get a pop every 2 months, and that's without the stack of brood queens and buildings also speeding it up a lot).

when you say the colony ships population is in the stomach of the ship, I like to think of it more as a massive monster containing millions of eggs that are going to assimilate all lifeforms on the planet while the colony ship eats away and becomes part of the planet turning it into a hive world

I played this mod yesterday for 9 hours straight - just couldn't stop. I went with the parasite setup - and low and behold, when I purchase slaves they also turn into my main species... snowballing is not even covering it :D by 2300 I had 3 times as many pops as #2 empire in my game. But I feel like i'm struggling with Admin Cap, and resource production in general. I have to spend so much effort in keeping the Admin cap low, it takes up way to many building slots. Hopefully some future tech will help on that. Also, the way the Hive builds ships are kinda OP. It's easy to produce thousands of food each month which is the major part of the ship construction cost.
