The endeavor attracted a diverse group of people from all over the world. Who woulda’ thought that a space shuttle would cruise threw Inglewood and South Central Los Angeles. It was the most fun that I ever had on Crenshaw Blvd. I will cherish the memory of that day forever.

I worked around the shuttles for 18 years and it was amazing. I started with the Endeavor in 1992 and ended with her in 2011 and now she followed me here to Cali. It was a sad day when we got laid off and the retirement of the shuttles. It was something to be proud of.

Imagine having flown countless missions to space and back again, knowing that two others were lost in tragedies.. and then for your final voyage, you get to take a stroll through LA, with thousands bearing witness.. not a bad way to end such a career.

@@nonbigbrain9662 and? What’s your point? Should they have stopped flying Endeavour after 12 missions? Or 6? Maybe 1? Just so it would not have flown “a lot” “for a single space craft”? 🤷🏻‍♂️🙄🤦🏻‍♂️ They were built to be reusable, and probably could have kept flying if the money was spent to make them safer after the Columbia accident, which is the main reason why they were retired. Hopefully NASA will design and build something similar that is safer for space travel and exploration. But, unfortunately, everything has its risks, especially space exploration.

What a mix of emotion - for a child who was roused in the night to gaze at Sputnick, to observe in my twilight, as this gallant explorer is gently navigated around a tree. To those who dreamed of her, built her, and sailed her ... you will always have the admiration of the world, and the thanks of your countrymen. To those who gave their lives so that others might explore heaven's realm - a grateful nation will never forget. Counting myself among a generation that witnessed miracles.

I remember I was in school (5th grade) at break/recess when the announcement came on the PA system that the shuttle was going to fly over our school. Everyone got up and scrambled and ran to the large field despite being told to walk and watched waiting for the Endeavor to fly over us. Which a few minuets later. It flew right over us. I could see the window of it from where I stood in the sea of students, faculty and teachers. Year or so later i went to the exhibit where it now rests.

Could you imagine what it would have been like to hear a lot of people outside of your home, and this huge monster is in a narrow part of your street, slowly making its way past a tree so that it doesn’t get injured! Obviously, those driving it around town really know what they’re doing. So glad I got to see your video! Thank you!

Glad I stayed up to witness that after getting off of work on a night shift. Got physically painful at one point trying to stay awake and a bit damp in the morning air, but it was worth it... Can't believe it's been *eight ( 8 )* years!

I'm grateful and appreciative that America decided to name two of their space shuttles after British Ships, HMS Endeavour and HMS Discovery, the Discovery still being a museum ship today, so thank you America.

I'm russian and our government wastes millions for flying airborn landing churches (see this if you have a minute: watch?v=cjA3Uop1HPU). So saving space shuttle as a museum trophy is not so ugly way to spend some money. (Please forgive my choppy english).

Space shuttle Endeavour has finally reached its permanent resting place in the California Science Center thanks in part to Toyota‘s full-size Tundra pickup. On Friday, October 12, an unmodified 2012 Tundra towed the enormous space shuttle over a bridge across I-405 in Los Angeles, taking around five minutes to complete the trip. Fitted with a 5.7-liter V8 producing 381 horsepower, the Tundra’s feat was especially remarkable because it’s only rated to tow 10,000 lb. The shuttle weighs a gargantuan 150,000 lb, while tow equipment added another 120,000 lb to the payload. But Toyota promises it made no modifications to the Tundra, instead purchasing it directly from a local dealer.

Watch the video, the hauler is self-propelled. The Tundra may have helped but it was not towing the Space Shuttle unassisted.
