Energetic guest. I live in Ecuador, and see a lot of the problems he describes in the rest of LatAm.

Let’s hope that Dr Guzman is better than the last US professor/academic who became president of Peru. He is currently being extradited from the US if he is not there already. In prison he will join a couple of other former presidents. Of course his wife or ex-wife has legged it to Israel, which conveniently has no extradition treaty with Peru. And let’s not forget the one who shot himself, apparently to avoid arrest. So not a high hurdle to clear. Let’s leave out the merely incompetent, and hope that Guzman or similar cleans the stable. Unlikely at best.

Unlikely, he is a globalist and is surrounded by the same kind of politicians …

His party supported the radical leftist in Congress right before their president was ousted. Hope his so-called political party disappears in the next election. They are the equivalent of the "Squad" in the Peruvian congress!

USA is no longer a strategic ally for Peru, now, China has become our most important business partner. Not for the best to be honest. USA has only been exporting “left social policies” trough your NGO’s Politicians like Guzman, only promote this kind of agenda, CRT, gender identity and other nonsenses. As Peruvians we want a real change, politicians who put Peru’s interests first.

I think this is a half-truth. It is true that the agenda you mention is present in his party, but that could respond to the alliance they made with "Fuerza Ciudadana", the result of the fusion of "Partido Decentralista Fuerza Social" and "Ciudadanos Por El Cambio", the latter being part of the Sao Paulo Forum, that is to say, they were socialists. Basically, a rather liberal party which first principle is individual liberty and the fourth or so is "collective action" got subverted by socialists. Although I would also argue that they have a certain affinity for the WEF given the perpetuation of heavily authoritarian (and even borderline totalitarian in some cases) measures taken during the pandemic under Sagasti (from the Purple Party), president that mentioned the Fourth Industrial Revolution (which can be used to describe a technological phenomenon or one that is infused by WEF aligned ideological bias) in his inaugural speech. It is also worth noting that Sagasti was not the one to impose those authoritarian measures and was exercising a transitional function. Personally, I think the Purple Party as a whole should lean way more heavily on the FIRST PRINCIPLE of the official outline of their own ideals: individual liberty.

The comment about the US being a defender of democracy made me laugh - when? Throughout the cold war they were very happy to endorse autocratic regimes in lat am for the sake of preventing communism

@@user-wl9gw7xe2q And communism was the worse evil at the time. This, of course, does not justify further intervention (maybe something involving the DEA or "progressive" NGOs, to give some examples).

Dr. Guzman presents a very insightful and historical picture of the reality facing the world in the 21st century. His discussion leads to many ideas, of which a world in fear needs to understand the reasons why, and how to move into the future.

While this fellow is pleasant, it is hard to listen to his explanation of Peru's problems while bypassing those central to any failing society. People who live with the locus of control over their well being in the hands of others are always going to be a a disadvantage to those who believe that control is in the hands of the individual. A story in the news a while back was about a Mormon family (descendents of American Mormons who moved to Mexico in the 19th century), that was mistakenly attacked by a drug cartel. One woman and a few children were shot to pieces. The Mormon men of this community went to the U.S. and bought a few dozen automatic rifles and ammunition and returned to Mexico, where they trained a small group of Mexicans to use them. The armed group laid an ambush for a group of cartel "soldiers" and killed them with gunfire. The cartel never bothered this Mormon population again. These Mormons did not sit back waiting for the state or federal government to solve their security problem.
