You're doing too much in saying that they contributed, because that there gives them the foothold with their lies. What exactly did they contribute? Because in saying that they contributed, the question beggars, "if Puerto Ricans took away their "contribution" --- whatever that may be, would there still be hip-hop?" And the answer would be yes. You might as well ask if Puerto Ricans had not participated, would there still be hip-hop, and the answer to that is also yes.

Dusty give us a year? The earlier origins of hip hop is of black American orgins before 1973 . All of the elements . The other groups came after it was invented .You cant disprove that . Many of the latin brothers that came in learned it from Black Americans , You havr some that will tell you they did .They may have contributed but they didnt create hip hop - it wasnt 50/50. Prove it. Grand Master Caz back tracked a few times with this back and forth - even making another video after the one you're talking about how it started with black Americans .No one is denying other groups participation but none of them created the elements or established the culture. I’m glad so many FBAs are standing up for their culture. I believe it was a good thing this subject came up because I believe we are starting to think like a unit. Anyhow, we have been the creators of all the popular music genres that are listened to throughout the WORLD. From Blues + Jazz, Rock + Country, to R&B + Soul, to Hip hop + Rap. Not only did we create them we undeniably dominated these. Our greatest Musician is considered to be the greatest in all the modern world - Michael Jackson. We have a rich culture albeit new. While other cultures can date back many many centuries we only have a couple of centuries and during this time we have out shined all (and I’m not on any black supremacy nonsense) it just is. We have too much to be proud of to let people try and take what is ours (Including the CREATION of hip hop)

Im from the Harlem. Hip hop started in the Bronxdale, projects in Soundview of the Bronx by the Black spades in the early 70's before Grandmaster Flash, before Fat Joe, before Afrika Bambata, before Rock Steady Crew, before Big PUN, Before DJ Charlie Chase..period. It started in Bronxdale and then spread out to Bronx River, Monroe, Soundview and Castle Hill. They used to throw the jams in Rosedal park off Rosedale avenue. It started there first!! They were playing old R&B, Funk and Rock from the late 60's and 70's. LOL They were playing BLACK music...like James Brown or all those STAX records artists from Memphis Tennesee. Jimmy Castor Bunch was a funk band. the group was black with a white drummer. All those break records were from R&B artists not Puerto Rican. The first MC was Cke La Rock a Black guy. Breakdancing started before rock steady crew dude. At the park jams people would dance like james Brown. DO YOUR RESEARCH.

They didn't come to our parties and we didn't go to theirs. They didn't even like our music at first and we was cool with that. The Puerto Ricans that were there in the beginning wasn't waiving their flags and no one even knew that they were Puerto Ricans. Same for the west Indians. Next time you do one of these one sided interviews, ask the question...."did Black's and Latinos create hip hop 50-50"...that's what we have beef with. We never deny that some were there...but 50-50? @@DustyVisionTVDVTV first and foremost, breakdancing goes back in the Black American society since like the 1930s and 40s... that style of dancing is something that is cultural with inside the Black American community. black Americans invented almost every dance in the united states, It going back to the charleston, to the Lindy hop, to the cabbage patch, The Running Man to the dab.. nobody knows who started the cabbage patch, nobody knows who started the RoboCop dance, but the fact of the matter is is that black Americans have created dances all throughout American history. Michael Jackson did not create the moonwalk, that came from Black American street dancers that he was influenced by. Not one person created the blues, it was a collection of black people from the Delta and louisiana..... that's like I asking me who created r&b, Or who created jazz, it was a collection of black American artists, musicians, and entertainers.... knock it off!!!

Funk came from Caribbean polyrhythms of New Orleans, you can hear "the one" in early 1940s Afro-Cuban jazz. James Brown said he first heard funk in 1950s from the group Upsetters who were hired as Little Richard's road band. Several members from this group came from New Orleans and brought 'the one' element into Little Richard's rock music. When Little Richard left rock music to do gospel in 1960s, James Brown capitalised by hiring Upsetters members for his band and funk took off.

You talking about Caz, but King Mario, DJ Pete Jones, and Kool DJ Dee were before all of them. We can go back to the 60s with this. It is the height of absurdity to suggest that Latinos/Puerto Ricans helped create a genre of music that EXCLUSIVELY used Foundational Black American Funk, Jazz, and R&B music. There is NO PUERTO RICAN culture/music invovled in hip-hop. There is a reason as to why James Brown, Geoege Clinton/Parliament Funkadelic, Sly and the Family Stone are the most sampled artists in hip-hop. Show us the Puerto Rican artists and music that is widely sampled in hip-hop? Hell. More white rock and roll artists are sampled in hip-hop than Puerto Rican artists. What sense does it make for a people that created hip-hop, but uses another people's music as the foundation, as opposed to their own? HIP-HOP IS ABOUT THE MUSIC. PERIOD. You cannot get away from it. The musical foundation of hip-hop is Funk, Jazz, Soul/R&B, and Disco. The break beats created by James Brown. There is no salsa, bomba, plena in hip-hop.

"a descendant of American chattel slavery." ---@@jayjones251 He's trying to play dumb and attempt to muddy the waters. The correct term is Foundational Black American or FBA for short. By merely saying Black American, people like this Dusty who is Puerto Rican can lay claim to that. He's likely Afro-Puerto Rican, by him being Puerto Rican, that makes him an American, and him being an Afro-Puerto Rican, he can lay claim to being Black. So in combination, he can say that he's Black American. Immigrants from Jamaica, Africa, ect. that becvome American citizens, then by defualt become Black Americans. This is why Tariq came up with the designation of Foundational Black American to eliminate the confusion. The Foundational part applies to us being the foundation of America via U.S.A. chattal slavery, ansd thus gives us a foundation for our claim for Reparations against the U.S.A. Many black immigrants and PRs, are up in arms over this because as a result they are not able to latch on our claim for Reparations because they are not of the American chattal slavery system. Hip Hop came from two elements Firstly in the 70s when Gang violence in New York resulted too many gang related Deaths All the Gangs agreed to a Sit down and the result was a truce (Hoe Avenue Peace Meeting over the death of Black Benjie a peace keeper of the Ghetto Brothers. The peace meeting was organize by the ghetto brothers after one of their members 25-year old Cornell "Black Benjie" Benjamin former junkie turned drug counselor was killed trying to stop a gang fight. The Ghetto Brothers were a gang (or club) and music group[1] founded in New York City's South Bronx in the late 1960s even before the black spades. The gang eventually spread to much of the Northeastern United States. Like the Young Lords, they were involved in Puerto Rican nationalism, including, in the case of the Ghetto Brothers, an association with the then-new Puerto Rican Socialist Party. This gang had political motivation to uplift young Latino and Black men in the community.) which led to Gangs throwing Street block parties to bond locals to their Gangs. Basically these gangs traded beatdowns for b-boying and rap battles, sowing the seeds of a bourgeoning hip hop movement that would expand past new york half a decade later. Disco was played at these parties and Dedications made start/ stop over the music. as Gang members talk on the mic over Disco and funk . Also Carolina Dj Kool Dee started bringing out his sound system sets. Kool Dee was the president of the division 1st Chapter Black Spade . Much later on DJ Kool Herc brought his set to the West Bronx and played Disco , Cubans bongo music, and funk . DJ Herc, influenced by his Jamaican Uncle, ran with a reggae sound. Herc played in the Reggae Sound system style but abandoned Reggae for more uptempo percussive sounds and break downs . The reggae Sounds system style of jacking up the tunes and mcing between the tunes influenced the way sound system played . Also Queens and Brooklyn Disco style of music were the earliest rhythms . Many influences came up the river from the South . Puerto Ricans/ghetto brothers, puerto rican nationalist groups, gangs were around .. doesnt mean they created hip hop. And all this is before the Prince Whippper Whip, Rock Steady crew, and DJ Charlie Chase that all Puerto Ricans like to mention as the earliest puerto rican hip hop creators. DJ Cool Herc was of jamaican descent and was around but he aint create hip hop. And the most insulting part of Puerto Ricans & Jamaicans trying to claim hip hop as their own is that all the information is readily available for you online , just do your research. But they rather lie and try to rewrite history.

The foundational element of hip hop is the music. Without it you have no breaking or rap. Those two art forms are still the most popular aspects of hip hop culture today. Without questions, those artforms comes from FBA. None of those two art forms come from Puerto Rico or Jamaica. Did Herc create the speakers? Of couse not. Your reaching my brother. There's no 50/50.

Puerto Rico is part of the Caribbean. Cool Herc is from Jamaica and first created hip hop from a music perspective so in that fact hip hop came from the Caribbean. Graffiti Art definitely had plenty of Latinos doing it. Breakdancing and Beat Boys had Latinos. If you was in the Bronx in the 70s and 80s, you created hip hop-regardless of your race.
