She is the nightingale of India... What makes indian singers such pros is hours and hours of practice and years of dedication and the classical training they get since very very young age. Indian singers don't rely on autotune at all. Live singing is a constant part of Indian music. That's why you won't find much difference in recorded versions and live versions.

@artesiningart49613 жыл бұрын
✌️😊🇵🇭 Shreya Goshal is the only female Indian singer I know. I know her when I personally look for Indian music, songs, and singers, and also for some Indian movies which involves music, songs, singing, dances, and dancing. There was a time back then after knowing and learning about India and Hinduism in high school from our Asian Studies and World History lessons in Social Studies, after watching "3 Idiots" during our free or break time in high school but during school or class hours and is also recommended by our Biology teacher, and while appreciating, loving, and enjoying some of their music, songs, singing, and dancing, among others especially and mostly from the movie, together with my classmates, when I personally started or began to want to learn and know some more about India such as Indian culture, music, songs, singing, singers, dances, drama, dramatic and theatrical arts, Hindu stories and epics, other Hindu and Indian literature, entertainment, history, people, languages, geography, and the Indian/South Asian/Dharmic religions of Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Sikhism, among some few others. Those were the times when I also know about Shreya Goshal and also about Sonu Nigam. They are the only two Indian singers I got to know and that I still only know up to now or up until now. In India every family will send their kids to learn music - be it vocal or an instrument from the early age 3-4 or 5 years and they will spend an hour to 2 hours of learning from a teacher. If it is vocal, they will start learning about the basics of music starting with the 7 notes ( Sa, Re, Ga, Ma, Pa, Da, Ni similar to Do, Re, Mi, Fa, So, La, Ti) and learn about the various Classical music (called Ragas ) from that time on. If they are talented and can persist they will go through hours of practice and it is repetitive until they get it right according to the teacher. Riyaz ( practice for vocalists) is a must and teacher tend to be very strict and ask you what you practiced and for how long etc. So singers in Indian movies - have had some basic classical musical training and tend to learn how to sing movie songs with the lyricist and the composer.

Since you guys liked this song so much, i'm gonna suggest you some of her live performances- kzbin.info/www/bejne/a5OuhJSBbpmNaqM Below is her performance at Berklee college of music- kzbin.info/www/bejne/bJrJn5qvhc-Eabc If you're wondering what's unique about this style! Well, Indian music typically contains no harmony, and can be completely improvised. Indian music consists of folk, classical (Hindustani and Carnatic) and pop music, among others. The Classical music is characterized by microtones (or shruti), notes (or swara), ornamentations (or alankar), among others. Shreya herself is completely Classically trained. To better understand Indian Classical music you would need to understand the concept of "Raag(also called raga)". The rāga is a unique and central feature of the classical Indian music tradition, and as a result has no direct translation to concepts in classical European music. Each rāga is an array of melodic structures with musical motifs, considered in the Indian tradition to have the ability to "colour the mind" and affect the emotions of the audience. Each rāga provides the musician with a musical framework within which to improvise. Improvisation by the musician involves creating sequences of notes allowed by the rāga in keeping with rules specific to the rāga. I would love to provide a few videos for better understanding- kzbin.info/www/bejne/eXPXd6dpfbqeipI kzbin.info/www/bejne/iajCeZVvd6qtgck A person with complete mastery over Classical music and Raag's would look something like this- kzbin.info/www/bejne/q3bUiq2ar5iNrMk I hope i've been helpful in making Indian music technicalities a little more understandable to you and not made it overwhelming. Apologies for the long message!😁

4:28 To the best of my knowledge, 2 of world's oldest languages Sanskrit and Tamil are from India. Sanskrit isn't spoken in day day to life anymore but is used in most ceremonies and in prayers and rituals. It's the mother of a lot of Indo-Aryan languages and hence is the mother of a lot of languages spoken in Northern India like Hindi, Bengali, etc. Though today's Hindi has been influenced by Urdu and English so it's quite different from it's original self. As for Tamil it's the oldest living language and is spoken by a people of a whole state. I don't know if other south Indian languages originated from it, even if to a certain extent. So I won't make any statement on that. But sadly most people try to speak English now coz they see it as a sign of class and think speaking in their native tongue is being illiterate or uneducated which ironically in itself is a very uneducated mindset shown by those people. Even one of my friend doesn't care if he knows/speaks his mother tongue well or not. People don't take pride in knowing their own language well anymore. Even though my friend and I share the same mother tongue he speaks to me in Hindi, though he can communicate in his native tongue and does so only with his parents. It's just a tragic situation is all I can say. It's the same case with the rich culture and traditions that we have which it's people themselves don't respect as they wanna be so-called "Western" or modern. I just want this rich heritage to be known by others that how cool it is and want it to last for eternity even if it's own people don't care about it.

To answer your question on how music is taught and learnt in India. Typically most of these singers start very early in their childhood. Starting at the age of 5 - 6 is very common. In now modern days, most of these classical music teacher teach at comfort of their home/institute. Student go there on regular basis if not for daily basis. It is taught in big universities as well. But the foundation is laid in childhood. In old traditional teaching method, disciple/student stays with teacher's home. As a student you would do what your teacher ask you to do and then in return teacher would teach you the music. Your meals and accommodation is taken care by the teacher and mostly would be free of cost. In modern days this system is discontinued. Hence in older days, music used to run in family. But regardless which system is used, the key is - all this starts at pretty early age.
