Her head voice and vibrato is just otherworldly that Katrina just cannot find the placement to nail it. This really is one of the best examples of an excellent vocalist and an excellent song. It's like a master class of technique and putting in just the right amount of dynamics and belts and runs, to express the emotion in the song.. I'd say this is a sample of a classic OPM song where melody and the story are the key features. You might enjoy it even more if you knew what it was about. It was elegant and masterfully done.

Before the videoke era, there was Minus One/Multiplex cassette tapes that allows you to either listen to the music with vocals or lyrics OR sing along with the song/music without the vocals. It's been said that when you have a Whitney Houston Minus One/Multiplex, the vocals you hear there were Lani's. That's how good she was back then. It's great that she has come into her own and just like fine wine, she keeps getting better as she ages.

Lani Misalucha is a veteran performer here in Las Vegas where I have lived for the past 20 years. I have seen Lani Misalucha's own Las Vegas show and her shows with The Society of Seven, a famous singing group from Hawaii. The Society of Seven and Lani were regulars in Las Vegas' entertainment scene . This was during the earlier years when Celine Dione was still performing at Caesar's Palace's Colosseum. Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahail is Lani's original song may years ago. She lived and worked in Las Vegas and performed in Las Vegas from 2002 until 2013 on almost daily basis with a Filipino band named "Society of Seven". She is a very versatile artist; she sings pop, rock, jazz, soul, rhythm and blues , and operatic arias. She was so popular in Las Vegas that she was called "New Siren of the Strip" and the Las Vegas mayor in 2009, Oscar Goodman, designated December 4 as "Lani Misalucha Day" in the city.

Lani is a legend in the Philippines, she even has a Lani Misalucha Day in Las Vegas (Dec 4). Unfortunately, she and her husband contracted bacterial meningitis causing her to be permanently deaf in one ear and suffer from chronic vertigo. The special thing about Filipino singers is how they express their emotions as if the song is their own experience, that's what makes it beautiful.
