By far this is the best, most genuine, close-to-the-heart reaction/commentary for this video. This video made me realize that yeah, I'm so sensitized by the contemporary music styles I almost forgot how beautiful a complete live accompaniment sounded like. Thank you for making me realize that.

Of all the reactors for this Katrina's video, it's only you whom I really appreciated the most coz you really know what you're reacting. Aside from the fact that your Latinos, you also really knows how to listen in every part and details of the song like in terms of technicalities, you incredibly gave your truthful and convincing reaction to it.

Fun Fact: Latinos & Filipinos shared the same Cultural Heritage. Rondalla was introduced by Spain to the Philippines in the 15th Century. Since then, Aside from studying Spanish, We had Operetta and Drums & Bugle Corps in our Schools. Our folks used to dance the Samba, Rumba, Cha Cha and Tango during Fiestas and family gatherings and Men, belting the song "Granada". During house party, together with classmates and friends, We loved to dance to the tune of Oye Como Va and Black Magic Woman by Santanna. I learned to play the guitar in school and my sister played the banduria...Just reminiscing the good old days!😍

Latin music / dance influence in the Philippines is VERY STRONG. We grew up watching our mom, dad, abuela and abuelo dance to cha cha and tango on street dance parties during fiestas. For an iconic Filipino jazz musician I HIGHLY RECOMMEND BOBBY ENRIQUEZ, a respected piano virtuoso in the jazz community in America, dubbed as THE WILDMAN. If you WANT timbales and congas better watch Bobby Enriquez's band.

There’s a dialect in the Philippines called Chavacano where more than half of the vocabulary is Spanish! You must remember that the country was conquered by Spain 500 years ago. It was named after King Philip of Spain. So Spanish very much runs thru our blood. Hence many of our surnames are Spanish. We are the only ‘unofficial’ Latinos in Asia.

Music is very much part of my area here in the philippines, it is sort of normal to hear videoke or ur neighbors singing during the weekdays & mor so during the weekends. We also have a thriving guitar or ukelele making here. Jamming sessions tend to help people an instrument in which guitar & beatbox & shakers r easily become part of basics. I can remember back n skol we use our school table as sort of congo drums. Thats how i learned it & even using my ballpens as drum sticks. There are also music schools that tie up with schools to teach music & create school bands. There are schools that have their own glee clubs, bandurias, etc. There are quite a few music schools here in my city that have recitals n big malls n sort of a concert.

Filipinos have their own original songs, but our 'harana and kundiman" songs were inspired by the spanish songs, thats why filipinos are very familiar with latin songs and instruments. Our lolos and lolas sing LATIN songs in the PABASA, a filipino tradition during holy week. And when karaoke was not yet invented, our titos and titas sing latin songs during celebrations or gatherings using guitar, marakas and any available latin instrument there is. They used to sing the songs of "Trio Los Panchos". The most popular Latino Singer here in the Philippines at that time. They also composed a song "FILIPINAS" which they played during their concert here in the Philippines

Spain conquered/occupied Philippines for 350 plus years. More years than Mexico actually so there's a lot of Spanish words in the language. Music, particularly singing is huge in the Philippines. Essentials are: air, food, shelter, music, anything after that is just cherry on top. As always, you guys are so detailed. I luv that you notice, appreciate the tiniest things! This was a great arrangement!

Here in the Philippines playing musical instrument is not really pushed that hard but this is being taught from primary schools up to secondary & in the university, many offer degree in music. I also believe many Filipino musicians learned music thru self study esp if they are so much into it. !

We still have RONDALLA in Philippines. Try to listen to our folk songs, it's mostly Latin in rhythm. Even when it comes to our dances we have Jota Manileña and a lot of Jota variations from different provincias y ciudades.

Just a FAN facts. Here in Philippines almost all of the schools from elementary to college and universities have a competition called "Battle of the Bands" which is compose of instruments and their vocalist, performing live. That maybe also one of the reasons why my country is blessed with such great artists and you guys deserves a subscriptions for giving us honest and authentic reactions. God bless. 😊

Wow!! She was sooo amazing the band as well. What I needed today. Loved also your enthusiasm towards the performance. As for the music, I think the similarities may steam from both Latin American countries and the Philippines being under Spanish colonial rule. With perhaps the Philippines longer than most. Makes me wonder who then is more “Latin”? What makes one “Latin”. Hmmmm. I get what you mean when your voice changes. When I speak Japanese my voice definitely higher, but also my whole body and mannerisms changes too.

Her name is in Spanish. Us Filipinos can speak some Spanish, we borrowed some Spanish words to the Filipino language. We were colonized by Spain for 333 years. Majority of the Filipinos is Christian, mostly Roman Catholic.

Music in the Philippines has been uniquely shaped (for better or for worse) by all the cultures that not only surround it but also by those who have occupied it. Our food, language, music, dances, traditional clothing, musical instrumentation (eg. the prevalence of the guitar), and our musical tastes have been influenced by Asia, Indomalayan, Pacific Islands, American/Western (from WW2 occupation), and, most relevant to this video, Spain (from the 333-year colonization). And that’s what makes Filipinos uniquely Filipino. ❤
