I'm a Physical Education Teacher and I like the humor you bring to learning. Learning is messy and should be fun! A fun drawing could be a "Wildcat" with a crown. My school's mascot is the "Wildcat" and it could be wearing a crown because the discs are Royals. This a fun way story as we introduce disc golf to my students each year!

This is great advice! I lost my ability to throw approaches and really putters in general when I figured out my power grip, but I didn't realize that I had lost the muscle memory for a fan grip. Took me several months before I realized and consciously re-learned a fan grip. It's wild how much better I score now haha.

Jonathon I want to let you know that because of your videos and you telling me to buy Fuse I bought Fuse and it's probably my favorite disc right now. This is only my second summer playing disc golf, but I have tried a good many discs and the Fuse really is amazing. Great glide, easy to control even for someone who can't aim like me, and the biogold plastic that mine is in feels great. Waiting on the River to come in the mail, really excited to try it out!!!

I think what you discovered is the difference between a front-loaded grip vs. a mid-loaded grip. Overthrow disc golf had a video discussing this, basically you want to use a front-loaded grip (the disc is pinched primarily by the thumb and pointer finger) for distance and power, and a mid-loaded grip (the disc is pinched primarily by the ring and middle finger) for approach shots. It leads to a more nose-up release, which won't go as far, but is usually easier to control.

I always use fan grip with all putters. Putting, approaches or off the tee doesn't matter, if it's a putter it's a fan grip. Just do the full reachback off the tee and less of a reachback the closer I get. Only exception is the Entropy, as it's so overstable that I need some power behind to get any distance out of it.
@samikangas5534 Жыл бұрын

Darn, I missed the drop again. Another great video. Too often people get caught up in what they were taught as the "right way" to do something. We are all built slightly different and could all learn from this. All to often I see people mentioning "Well such and such said that his is how they get extra distance" or "This is how they putt more accurately" Test it out, but in the end, do what works best for you. Your best game will probably be a mixture of all of these things. The fan grip is how I've been approaching since I started playing again in 2020. I feel like it's the strongest part of my game.

Yes. This is good. Usually people keep trying to force a powergrip on their putter throws instead of just trying this for a while. This grip is really fast to learn in the end and it makes such a huge difference. You can also put a lot more power, A LOT MORE POWER, behind your throw with this same grip without them slipping out of your hand. 🤷🏻 Also Jonathan could you try throwing some understable discs (Pure would be really good since it will show if you have any wobble, Keystone should work really well too) with this grip and use a bit more power? I'm pretty sure it would work.
