In watching this back, I want to make it clear that being low energy or in a depression doesn’t not necessarily correlate with choosing to be low maintenance with natural hair. On the contrary, I think taking a step back can be very helpful to those feeling overwhelmed. For me, however, being in a negative space did lead to a more pronounced “letting go” of perfection with my hair. It’s up to YOU to decide what level of maintenance you want with your hair. I personally tend to be somewhere in the middle of the hair maintenance effort, so when “letting go” turns into “neglect” I have to make a decision to pull myself out of my funk. It’s all about being self aware and everyone’s meter will be different. Love you and take care of yourself. ❤

I totally understand the moment. I had my braids in for three months. Upon taking them down, I knew it was time for a haircut. It's OK that our hair isn't perfect.

I have a similar experience but I realized over my ten plus years of being natural that simplicity works for me and my hair. I can work my ass off on my hair and it turns into a flop. When I have the least amount of effort my hair looks amazing 🤔 😂 Love your final look ❤

I’ve literally been doing the medium/large twists in a bun for years and I love what you said about just taking it out into a twist out when you need to go somewhere it’s honestly the best way to care for natural 4c hair in my opinion, if you are lazy and don’t wanna be bothered lol Pro tip you can turn your old twist out into a sleek ponytail with a puff just using some gel, and some got 2 b that can extend your next wash day, you’re welcome

You’re so close to semi free forming, sis. You would have bomb locs too. It’s a journey but the freedom is worth it. No combing, no oils, no fuss. Just beautiful, soft and long natural locs. Good luck and thank you for the content!

I really LOVE how you used unraveled twists to create a beautifully elegant up-do. I’m going to try doing something similar with my hair as we go into Fall/Winter. Wash-n-go’s are not so good when it’s bitterly cold outside, know what I mean?? My hair has grown and I am now able to have twists that are long enough to “gather together” even after shrinkage. Thank you for sharing the untwisted style with us!!! I am SO going to try it!! Also - I had no idea you had been on Days of Our Lives!!! You really are awesome!!!!! 🥰

Girl, this is such a great idea!!! I think I'm one of the laziest naturals out there lol. This is why I microloc'd my hair in 2020, but it only lasted 3 years because of a chronic scalp issue that I battle with. Since I cut them off a few months ago, I fight hard not to neglect my much shorter 4b/c hair. Your hair is simply gorgeous, especially in the style you did for the wedding. It looks like you put a whole lot of effort in to get that beautiful style !!🤩🤩🌺🌺 As my hair grows out , I'm going to copy your present hair routine closely. Thanks so much for sharing💕💕

Latoya, Thank You!! 🎉❤🎉 I get so frustrated and upset on Wash days because I Hate parting my hair! It'll take me 5mins to make a perfect part on one side of my head then 10mins or more trying to get the other side to match! 😢 and Forget the back half of my head, I sometimes just give up and put it in a bun! I have been natural around three years now and sometimes feel I still have No idea what I'm doing! Watching other KZbinrs get these perfect styles, it's intimidating! Thank You for showing me and I'm sure many others out there that it's OK not to be Perfect and Still be Beautiful ❤️🖤❤️ I wish you continued Success in everything you do!! 🙏🏾🙌🏾🙏🏾✨🫶🏾🫶🏾🫶🏾✨

You are so very welcome. The truth is, I’m just sharing my reality. Life isn’t perfect and our hair shouldn’t have to uphold a standard we can’t even uphold in life lol! Perfectly imperfect 😌. SUPER CUTE! You have proven that beauty comes from the spirit - it’s who you are that people respond to and appreciate. You’re allowed to be human and be “imperfect” - we’re all allowed. And, best of all, when you accept and embrace that fact, your hairstyle (and everything else about you) turns out just gorgeous anyway! You do you; unapologetically! Respect!

Hey there! I just loved this video! I’m so happy you’ve shed light on wearing styles that are considered “lazy”. It’s definitely not lazy because it’s not the preference of most naturals and because you’re STILL taking care of it. I called that smart and simple. I’ve been living here for the past 3 years now and I absolutely LOVE it, and my hair speaks for itself. It’s healthy, it’s the longest it’s EVER been in life, and it’s super strong. I’m winning and so are you! Your hair looks absolutely gorgeous!😍🥇 😊

That hairstyle looks wow. Definitely into and gives rise to many ideas. 💡 too am falling in love with my natural 4C long hair which I put in styles that enhance its growth and the fact where I am in my life right now a sort of lazy period of doing hairstyles. As long as it looks representable although your hairstyle meets the mark to walk and sport your natural hair and show it off. Love this video.😊❤

I’m glad I watched your video. I’ve been wanting to texturize my hair. I’ve been so drained doing my natural hair. Maybe I will try to do twists like you and stretching them because my hair shrinks a lot and I still don’t know how to braid 😂I never did twist as a regular hairstyle for outside of home because I felt pressured to be able to part it evenly and always struggled with that.
