The energy required to separate the ions in a crystal lattice into individual gaseous ions is known as lattice energy. Lattice energy depends on the strength of interactions between cations and anions in the lattice, which we can estimate using Coulomb's law: Fₑ = (q₁q₂)/r². According to this equation, stronger interactions occur between ions with larger charges and smaller radii. View more lessons or practice this subject at www.khanacademy.org/science/a...
Khan Academy is a nonprofit organization with the mission of providing a free, world-class education for anyone, anywhere. We offer quizzes, questions, instructional videos, and articles on a range of academic subjects, including math, biology, chemistry, physics, history, economics, finance, grammar, preschool learning, and more. We provide teachers with tools and data so they can help their students develop the skills, habits, and mindsets for success in school and beyond. Khan Academy has been translated into dozens of languages, and 15 million people around the globe learn on Khan Academy every month. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, we would love your help!

I think Na will be larger then Cl as when we go left to right in a periodic table the atomic size decrease because in the increase of atomic no. So Na>Cl

no if you take out one electron from sodium it looses one whole shell so it does affect the radius of sodium by large a magnitude

completely wrong concept here the force is obviously repulsive as the force is between 2 electrones(same charge). besides the distance you measured was among the nucleus but you had to measure distance between electrons buddy better luck next time and you better delete the vedio. because as the cation be larger it is easier for the cation to donate its electron and thus easier for anion to attract and it makes the bond stronger

the force here is the attractive force b/w the nucleus (+) and the electrons (-)
