I spent six years in prison full of negativism people. When I came home and saw a dead and company show my gf said she never seen me so happy. She understands now that they are more than just a band. The people are the best people. We are so much more than just fans. She understands the history I have had with the dead for the last 25 years. I love all of you.

I've since seen 20 shows with the variations of The Dead, Further, Phil & Friends, Weir, etc... Dead & Co as well. IMO, you can't compare the 80's era to 1973-1977. That was the peak of the Dead. I'm 60 years old, still groovin' to the music. Their shows all differed so much that you're never listening to the same song twice. The Dead --- Im so lucky I got introduced to them back in 91 --- only had a few years but I got crazy and went on tour in 93 , one of the best decisions I ever made :) I was supposed to be in high school but I think that year was better spent following the dead.
@ResearchSoundLab4 ай бұрын
Maybe. Or maybe only if you realize how subject you were to obeying your impulses, without wisdom or discernment. Thing can go one way, or another. We can't base the soundness of a risk decision based solely on the outcome. Hopefully, you get what I'm saying. It was a long time ago. My first show was '87. But was 'on the bus' at '83. I was 13 then. Saw "The Movie". I never upsticks & followed them for a tour- but now I wish I would have. Which was the better decision? I don't know. For me- it was probably better I never went on the road permanently.

my girlfriend and I just tried acid (both for the first time) and after a while of being overwhelmed I was kind of scared what direction it was going to go in. After finding comfort in realizing what "shine on you my crazy diamond" by pink floyd actually means, I decided to see what musical wisdom the greatful dead could offer. Without ever hearing a dead song before I put this video on and it has made this experience a million times better.

@aidamhruska1208 ай бұрын
This concert took place roughly one month before I was born... it took me about 20 years to come across Hunter S. Thompson whom introduced me (indirectly, that is) (haha) to the Grateful Dead. I was reading some of his work and was mentioning this band quite a bit and with a great affection. Luckily, I was curious enough then, to look up what the mysterious GD was. Who were they? What do they sound like? Bang! And today, in this day and age, I am sitting here with my sleeveless old rugged GD T shirt listening to this concert. If I ask anyone in my age if they know GD, all I get is blank stares. But hey! Who cares? :)

Best Jam Band with a mix of intense and mellow energy through out a show. And as Jerry once said always different which is why I can take a trip sans drugs with them. Love the videos especially this one with the clarity of sight and sound and of course the psychedelic visuals. Thanks for posting! I'll be back for sure. Send me via links to videos you think are as good or better please...I'm on a journey... Cheers!

Old video with some glitches, but always love watching them go on a deep improv jam in this Slipknot; kzbin.info/www/bejne/jpzFq3aKnMx3bpI

According to Bobby the Eighties they were peaking... by '87 all one maybe? This a beautiful archive for us old Heads to reinvigorate to... all the younger ones watching and listening to get a taste of where we've been and where we can get to if open to it. Thanks LobsterVideo an Charlie Miller for your great work!

People very rarely went to a Dead show and didn't have a good time. It was all about having a good time. Those were the days, that's for sure.

Just fyi, Billy is by far the better drummer of the two- Mickey might reach for and invent crazy sounds but there is No Way he could have ever played like Billy did in 73.. ever. Listen to the Dead without Mickey snd you’ll understand that Billy was as good as any jazz drummer ever was.. Two drummers is powerful but limiting also. They were never better than they were without Mickey. 🤷🏻Not a Mickey hater, at all. I believe he would be the first to admit it. He understands , i’m sure, what a great drummer is, and that he’s been very fortunate to play w somebody of Billy’s caliber. That’s my truth, you can take it or leave it..

Agreed Mickey is a rudimentary drummer. Billy was a hummingbird he could play anything!! @@adamcrary1602

U r rite on about Billy being the best at the drums plus Micky knew how lucky he was to be with them because his father had ripped the band off ! They had no idea for a long time y they didn’t have as much money as they should have ? 🥲😢😤😡🤬🤯😰😥
