I'll never understand why the U.S. makes such a big deal about Nascar (at least from what I've seen), when THIS has existed. *Year later edit* Y'all took this shit too literally, which I guess also proves my point about Nascar and it's fans (coming from an American), lol. Never imagined a rhetorical statement would be refuted by explaining how Nascar is more marketable, than watching people drive by you one single time as they drive dangerously up a hill. Like yeah that's super obvious, but you figure Americans would be more about the much more dangerous sport of Rally than watching people go in a circle. But at the same time, I guess you can figure the opposite too, simply because of how we are 🤣

This is not very fan-friendly
@dln.sweeney6 жыл бұрын
Apples to oranges. You go see a NASCAR event and you can see every corner from most vantage points, and the cars are much closer together. Rallying is subjectively more exciting but if you want to watch one in person you have to spend hours waiting in the woods and then you get to watch each car fly by one at a time for a few seconds and then it's over. I'm a fan of both disciplines and I'm about as minimal a fan of NASCAR as possible, but I definitely understand why it's so popular. It's also easier to follow when your gut is full of miller lite.

I’ve been up this auto road quite a few times. They tell you to keep the car in first gear to prevent overheating, so you’re going quite slow. But even at slow speeds, driving along the edge can be very sketchy. They aren’t kidding when they say the road is narrow. I cannot even fathom going up this mountain at the speeds in this video. Must be exhilarating and nerve racking. True professionals

Without a co-driver in a powerful car like that and on such a road, 2 plays a major role. The memory of the driver and looking far ahead the road, the moment the curve's scanned, the eyes looks forward to the next one while entering the already scanned curve, driving without blinking an eye. Combining all those together comes the skills and the fast reflection of the driver. Rally, what an outstanding motor sports.

If you surround yourself with people who have the means to provide opportunities like travis was presented at a early age then you have a better chance in life to become something but being born into poverty sometimes spins your life into something that you cant control i blam no one for what i have been through i just wish i would have surrounded myself with better people at a young age props to travis pastrana and all that he has accomplished in the racing industry

Travis's run was extremely smooth and well composed he certainly wasn't pushing as hard as Higgins was. Higgins was no doubt pushing extremely high speeds, but you could tell he was constantly on, off and over the ragged edge of speed the line he was on. He was getting a ton of air, and you could see the car twitching heavily on the sidewalls of the tires from being heavily on the limits. Great to watch them both though and I am fairly confident at this point I couldn't get close to either of their times through the course.

I love Travis. I'm 31 and have wanted a subi since I was 15.... Man wish I could afford to toss this honda and get at least a sti. The first car I ever test drove was a 1996 legacy gt. I love the styling. Now I'm a bigger fan...turbo... not to mention the engineering boxer engines are SOOOOO GNARLY. SOMEDAY!

Hats off to the Subaru Team, they have def smashed the record. Too bad Mitsubishi is missing from Rally and Hillclimbs. Will be nice to see a Evo competing at the same level as the STi

Well... Second place in this race was won by a EVO II driven by an independent driver with no team behing him. Pleasure EVO is the name of the car. Think about it, an EVO II almost 25 years old, still holds against the latest STI AND on hands of a non professional driver.

Obviously, if he got second then he was a professional driver, even if he had not been in races, otherwise, he would have most likely died, been in a crash or not come second to professional drivers...

He is not a pro, don't trust me just confirm it by yourself.

You're not getting it... You can be a good driver, an amazing driver even, without ever entering an official race. So although he is not a pro in the ways you classify a pro, he still is a very good driver and very good drivers can be classified as pros. You really think an average joe who has never done any racing before can go against world class drivers? No chance.

Ok, I see it. Yes I agree with you is not a simple average Joe.

Was hiking a peak down the traverse, seeing the helicopter and hearing the cars ripping up every few minutes was pretty cool.

Sir Pastrana, I like him ALOT. He’s NOT cocky, he’s Humble, and not afraid to say when he’s scared. And because of THOSE qualities, he’s STILL ALIVE and BUMPING IT 👍👍🔊🔊🔊🎻🎻🎻😎 👽🛸
