BE THAT PERSON! We can still have this community today, it's as easy as just extending a hello or even a wave/greet emote while out in the world. Small interactions build up over time, and if everyone's doing these small interactions everyone would feel much more comfortable being more social. At the moment we're all either self absorbed in what we're trying to accomplish for the day or worried about what interactions we MAY have if we put ourselves out there so nothing ever happens.

This is great. I was in Great Falls Montana when TBC came out. Stationed at Malmstrom AFB. I lost my debit card a few days before the launch and was awaiting my bank to send me a new one. So that night I decided to clean out my computer desk since I had some free time. To my surprise I found a $40 gift card for Gamestop! I yelled "FUCK YEA!!!" in my dorm room like a total nerd. It was a X-mas gift I got back from 2005 just in the back of my drawer. Still in the Christmas card. I jumped in my truck the next morning @ 9am and waited for the doors to open. Bought TBC and played for the next 16 hours. Oh memories.

This is part of why I'm saddened by the move to a digital marketplace for most games. CD's and DVD's are the things of collector's editions now, not the norm... So it also means that gamers, who used to have that 'I will meet you at the store on launch night' social event now no longer have it. A true tragedy.

These days were the golden days of world of warcraft , I'm very happy that i was a part of this community back then , Eventho i lived in syria and my age was too young , but i'm still proud , I'm very happy that i watched this video fully , People back then were very proud , and every aspect of the game was running through their veins and souls , Today , Everything changed , No more launch days , everything is running through the internet like the internet is running us , no more smiles , no more dancing contests , if you want a physical copy , You just order one online while sitting alone in your room or behind your desk somewhere or even on phone , You don't need to sleep in the street anymore for 2 days to be one from early people to get a copy , i watched this video while hugging my burning crusade disk , the only disk i got to get back then here in Syria , Today Retail feels dead every time i log in there , Gold sellers and boosters are at every corner , trade chat is dead , no world chat , you don't even need to say something because you only have to link your achievements and your high ilvl beside your proving grounds medal , everything has changed , the only pain i had watching the video is my soul getting hurt , I watched the video knowing that almost everyone inside it stopped playing , some of them living a whole new life , Some are in the millitary , Maybe some are homeless or even Dead.

So much nostalgia... Good times, wish we could go back in time and re-experience it... Now with the adult life, shits so stressful, marriage, etc.. Granted I'm not as old as many of the older players. But these were good times. Specially with your paps or mom, then Blizzcon, etc... Never had so much happiness in my life, even if it was in a mechanic shop or a store playing in the backroom while your parent(s) worked while they let you play and have fun. I hope everyone here watching this is doing good now and having a amazing life or doing whatever they can to improve anything and everything...

@@CousinMarvin It's modernism and consumerism and social media. We've become more isolated and digitalized, with a significant jump since covid. We are in part victims of the ideas of dead philosophers from 100-200+ years ago and people don't know how much they speak their words without knowing it. The BC expansion era was that transitional period before social media took the scene and before phones became more advanced.

OMG is this the Fry's in Anaheim? Sure looks like it!!! I remember my roommate and I who (when TBC came out, were fairly new players) went over to the Fry's before work (we worked second shift) to LOOK at the line and it was pretty long. I was pretty impressed. It was a store we were familiar with back then as we lived close by and visited fairly often, so we went in to look at some merchandise that day before going to work. They had some Warcraft . . . board game? Something in a big box. We weren't talking to anyone, just looking and this guy comes up, completely out of nowhere and starts RANTING to us about the people in line and how they are all "CRAZY" and blah blah. Before stomping off, he said, very emphatically "I HAVE A LIFE!" And we just stared at him walking away thinking "O . . . K hmmm . . . dude doth protest too much, methinks?" 🤨 We did the same thing for the Wrath launch, just looking at the line (since we couldn't be there since we got OFF of work at midnight). We went in and saw a pile of strategy guides for something to do with WoW (I think may have been one of the dungeon guides). Both my roommate and I had a book in our hands, just looking through it and a LADY comes up to us and says "Do you see that line out there? Those people are CRAZY." Then, she must have noticed that we were both holding a strategy guide and said quickly "I mean, crazy in a GOOD way!!" 😅 While we couldn't actually be at the launch (the only one we made it to was the Legion launch in Santa Ana, where we got everyone to sign our box of the Limited Edition) those memories are still so dear to me, mostly because I'm reminded of how excited the COMMUNITY was for the games, and how we could just get together in our neighborhood to celebrate together.

There just won’t be midnight launch parties for games or consoles anymore like there were in the 2000’s. I was in line for Halo 2 and collected like 15 gamer tags during the wait. Hell, I remember launch parties for Windows 95. Even back then that seemed a bit too geeky for me.
