Launches / Burnouts - 1968 GTO 461 Stroker w/Butler Performance ported heads

We launched the GTO a few times today, trying to get the tuning just right on the current setup. All of these launches/burnouts, were on motor alone...no nitrous. We'll have the update video up soon, but we thought we'd toss up some clips from today. Thanks for watching, we appreciate it!

I was 38yrs old when I got my 68GTO, brought it home my girls ask if I was going to race "BOOMERS".I said you don't know what your looking at ,"This is a Classic". Got in primer took it to the Track, 400 4spd 323single leg, ran 15.30 @ 90mph. Kept working on it 14's13's12's11's10's then 9.88at 137mph.Just got a butler 535 871,2 carbs they look like 4150's but flow 1200 ea E85, put it on a chassis Dyno 13lbs boost , Head gasket wouldn't seal( I torqued them wrong) bore was to big for the Edelbrock heads (Water passage from head to block to close to the bore) leaked water , not enough Voltage to the fuel pump(Not wired right, why read the directions unless something goes wrong) @ 6500rpm made 1140hp 1270 ftlbs torque at the crank, should have made 1400 to 1500hp. Found a crack in the deck, bought new block, (Kauffman) going with a 505cu in, fire ring it , 9/16" studs and try again, this time get some help from Pro's, Like I tell the Pro's (they're my friends, they run in the 6's and 7's ,Pro mod's) I'm in the deep end of the pool and I only know how to Dog paddle. My car "SHOULD" run 8.5 in the 1/4. My Goat is like your car Factory frame, full glass, carpet, I just put a Big Motor in it and roll bar ,wheelie bars, and a chute, I still drive it on the street it weighs 3800lbs. I laughed when you Guys hit the NOS, only car guts under stand what you felt, and in you first Video you looked at your GTO and saw the car it could be not a piece of JUNK. You remind me of me in the beginning with my GOAT, total Love affair. There is one thing I would warn you about, there is "NO" cure for this thing you have with your GOAT.....I'm 71..... I have a plaque on my dash that reads "DON"T JUST SIT THERE WATCH FOR COPS"... PONTIAC'S for EVER Little Brother...Stab it and steer it, don't punch it and crunch it!!!....Glad I found you again... My friends say I'm conflicted, I tow with a DODGE, drive a MUSTANG and Race a PONTIAC....Life's GOOD

Sounds like an amazing ride you have there. Much like yours, I expect this car will continue to evolve over the years. Outstanding comment, from what sounds like a True Pontiac Warrior ! I have a 1970 GTO Convertible. Orig 4spd/hoot tach/ A/C car... Bought it when I was 18 (I'm 56 now) still own it. 400" (bored .030), TRW Alum pistons, Edelbrock Torker, Holley 750, Hays clutch...did it all when I was 19 yrs old. The times I had in the Goat with my buddies and our girlfriends, cannot be matched. Haven't driven it for a long time. Spun a bearing...and she has sat in the garage. People come by...ask if I wanna sell it. Nope....keeping it for my Son. I really want to get it going again.

@@nealivers7479 Hi again just an up date, everything is taking forever. Kauffman ordered the wrong pistons from Ross. My Motor has 6.80 rods not 6.70 rods, when we did the deck height the piston was out of the bore 100 thousands. waited 3mo the first time, 2mo this time. Ordered T&D Stainless steel rockers, 3mo out, ordered Isky solid Rollers .937 Dia off set push rod, 2mo out. Waited for 2mo for the machine shop. Got the boring done took it and checked the deck height, took it back to surface, another mo. The guy doing my heads has had them 6mo, just now ordered the valves. You'd think I would be discouraged but I'm not, well some times I am. There's a Girl (60) that goes to my Church, I want to ask out, but I want to have my car, so I have something to show off with, I'm 72 now, I told you this Hot Rod thing doesn't leave you. My car surges really Great, I pulled up a the store , Parked, got out, a kid said "You get out of that car"? I answered "Yes" he said "DAMN Grandpa"!!! Nobody expects to see some Old guy in a Nasty Car on the street. last time I got a ticket, I burned 70ft of rubber in front of a Cop, I didn't see him, I was to busy showing off of some girls. I have a lot of stories with this car, I might share them some time on YT. There's some on there now, Go to YT, punch in Pickle crew, then the X Box Emblem, then Video. The name of the car is WarHorse. Also the Videos Good times, Emma's movie, Legend of WarHorse. The passes I'm showing are 10.20 to 10.40 at sacto raceway with the Pontiac that made 726HP @ 6000. This is the type of car I would try to chase down so I can catch it at a traffic light so I can feel the power lol driving a focus I can't keep up most of the time unless they're cruising muscle car is full throttle to me.

Manual th400?

It's a turbo 400 with a custom valve body. It will still shift on it's own in Drive, but if you manually shift it, you can hold 1st and second as long as you want.

@@RamblinAround 👍 auto/manual valve body. My th400 is the same. Your 461 stroker is a beast.💯 I have a 496 stroker in my '68 Impala.

What gears are you running? I'm building a 461 for my '70 and keeping the stock gearing. Just trying to get an idea if I'll get any traction on street tires.
