1968 Pontiac GTO - Lopey Idle - 461 Stroker w/Butler Performance Ported Heads

Jordan put the full exhaust back on the GTO tonight, so we thought we'd toss up a quick idle clip. A full update video is coming soon. Once again, it's powered by a 461 Stroker Pontiac, with a Comp Cam, Butler built and ported Edelbrock D-port heads, Doug's headers, an Edelbrock Torker II intake, and a Barry Grant "silver claw" double pumper carb. Spun a couple rod bearings on a RA3 P400 at about 5800rpm back in 80. Wish I had known about rev limit MSD boxes, were fairly knew to market at the time. Had mech adv curve fact Hei delco set up on a Sunnen Console at Semme & Son Clev,O. Shout out to Frank S, Russel M/T Tech/F Mar.

sounds like the 428 engine i built for a 65 goat one time. I used the round port edelbrock heads though, and she ran like a scalded dog! that engine sounds great jordan!

The cam is just a Comp Cams XE284H....but the Butler Performance custom built and ported Edelbrock D-ports definitely help get the most out of it. The larger tube Doug's headers didn't hurt either.

RamblinAround ok cool, thanks for your reply. Im getting ready to do a street / strip deal, adding 461 scat stroker kit, 4B main caps, sd lifter bracing and little bottom filler. Looking at 11:1 with 300cfm rd port alloy heads with dougs 1-7/8. Will certainly be doing a roller cam and been looking for ideas

@@firebird70 No, problem. That sounds like it'll be a great build. My compression is around 10.3:1, heads flow 310 cfm, have the Megabrace for the lifter bores, and I'm running Doug's headers as well, but only 1 3/4. I have 3" exhaust with an H-pipe. It pulls as high as I care to take it, so it seems sufficient. The headers took some massaging to get in there, but overall they are better than the Hedman's I had.

Thanks, glad you like it. Compression is right at 10.25:1...exhaust is 1 3/4 primary Doug's headers, Full 3" H-pipe, Dual 3" pipes, with 3" Flowmaster FlowFX mufflers, and 3" turndowns at rear axle.
