A boat by the river

A boat by the river

Күн бұрын

After months of hard work we finally get to launch our tender "Peach".
This is a fun and momentous day, especially for Matt who has been itching to relive his youth!
We also get back onto Tarkine after a moment of celebration, and continue preparing the hull for fibreglassing.
Matt does some rather scary prop removal under Tarkine and Fibreglasses the keel.

Peach has brilliant buoyancy. It pops like a cork with lefty Matt and the leader of the Star Wars rebellion ., wow . Tarkine . This is a Masterpiece. . I have built many things . One Masterpiece. You remind me so much of my youngest son . He always wanted a tree house when we moved around chasing a dream . Now he has his dream in the form of a virgin acre of rainforest. Matt and Ifke . This vessel is stupidly strong . I mean properly stupidly strong. More power to you. When you are a very long way away ...in very deep sea ...at the whim of mother nature and the roll of the sea ... Yeah stupid strong . Keep the brine on the outside. Love your work

Hi Matt and Iefke and Obie. A couple of weeks ago I stumbled on to your channel and began watching from the start. And I've just arrived at this episode after Subscribing and Liking all the way. I am Subscribed to all of the boat building channels you mentioned, plus a few more. I have to say that your skills and craft are as good as I've seen anywhere! Matt you are very humble, but it's obvious that you have experience and a calm, thoughtful approach. Iefke is a perfect foil. I've seen some excellent chisel work from you and of course, applying finishes to perfection. I look forward to sharing your future exploits.

As you were talking about removing supports to enable glassing the keel, from my own past experience, I figured I’d see another set of jack stands come out and take the load as insurance - not a hammer. 😂 She’s definately got a strong backbone

Brilliant videos thank you.. I only discovered your channel a week or so ago, and the last few episodes I saved for today.. Christmas Day. I have subscribed and liked everything, even put the word out among friends to increase your numbers. This is up there among the best boat build channels and you should be very proud. Now that both Tally Ho and Arabella have set sail there must be around half a million subscribers out there looking for something to support, so 100k at least must be coming very soon. I wish you all the best and a Merry Christmas..

That little Peach is so pretty, I’ve never seen a dinghy like that, the planks and the paint job are perfect, looks like she’s fast too, awesomeness, pure awesomeness!!! I have to say, I was on the edge of my seat with fear watching you remove those midship stands, sheesh!! Very good job with the keel and plank fiberglass lay up Matt, with the size of your boat you’ll be just about an expert when you’re through! Finally got a look at that stern, haven’t seen it since “the accident” lucky for you Lefke has to redo it anyway after all the fiberglass. That is one beautiful job she’s done, it’s like art, so talented that girl!!!

Hi Matt and Lefke, just seen mentioned in Tally Ho's Sampson Boat Co Friends, that Leo and Bob will be visiting the Tasmanian Wooden Boat Festival on 10 February 2025. You may have already picked up on this, and intend trying for a meet up at the Festival, or even their visiting to see Tarkine. I do not have a clue where you are in relation to Hobart and the TWBF, but if it could be pulled off would be great.
