Leave it to you to come up with the perfect branding for this project and subsequent perfect intro for it as well. I couldn't love this more!

11:43 - the automatic no kind of reminds me of how it’s a lot easier for a lot of people (myself included) to abstain from alcohol than manage/moderate …. It’s just less mental calculation, plus you’re not participating in the activity that makes you want more of the activity
@cloveroom5 күн бұрын
such a good parallel, thanks for saying that - the mental game and calculation is so difficult and completely eliminating helps that a lot

I'm in! I feel like a lot of my collection is basically the result of chasing the next best thing, the perfect shade of something or the perfect finish, and I tend to collect interesting eyeshadows like I was a crow in a past life. I would like to take this year to use what I have and make do like you mentioned, I think that would actually inspire more creativity within me, and the challenge would spark more fun. I remember one time you mentioned that you'd try a product the first time and be a bit underwhelmed but then try it again later down the line and start to appreciate it more. I am missing out on that by always getting distracted by the next product that "might be even better" and I'm realizing how silly that is and how I'm cheating myself lol This will give me some great company in my goal to get more use out of what I have, and some much needed accountability, I put it here in writing lol

Great into! I am also doing a makeup no buy this year too! I went on a no buy in 2022 and it went well for me. I feel I need a reset this year and really spend time with the makeup I already own.

best of luck, we got this!

I love the name of this project! I am doing a no buy for the first quarter. I’ve tried to do low buys for years but I’m always shocked to see how much I ended up buying and ultimately not using until months/years down the line. So far the automatic no has really been a comfort. Looking forward to your content for this project!

18:12 yes I DO know what you mean. I've accomplished two long term no buys & one semi successful no buy, but one thing was I started buying way too many nail polishes & started researching fragrance A LOT. To the point that I had to reel that in as well. I'm pulling for you Cam! 💪

1) I totally understand loving cozy/tight spaces. My FAVORITE place I ever lived was a little detached studio and I loved how warm and homey it felt. 2) lol I am also guilty of trying not to buy in one category and then “making up” for it by purchasing in another category. 3) super right about shame being a terrible motivator for lasting change. I tried to do a no buy last year and failed miserably. Instead of using that as motivation for my low buy this year, I’m trying to focus more on creative ways to use my makeup without going out and making additional purchase (ex. Can I use this shadow stick I already have as a primer instead of a product marketed as eye primer). Thank you for the wonderful video! Here is to exercising our “make do” muscles and subscribing to follow along! 💜

Great video! I've watched it twice. We think very similarly about makeup, so I enjoy hearing you discuss some of the considerations I've been thinking about lately in a succinct, articulate manner. I've been telling myself to wait as long as I can to buy a makeup product this year, and I feel that whenever I need a boost of motivation, I can come back to this video.

OH MY GOSH IM SO EXCITED! I’m currently on a makeup no buy as well and as a Queer and femme makeup lover it’s kinda hard to let go of one of my sources of dopamine in these times we find ourselves in. I’m so excited to see you are on a similar journey. Can’t wait to see what the year holds!

When you mentioned panning a blush, I have panned four or five when I owned like three at a time. When my blush journey exploded, it became nigh impossible to pan them because I own so many. So I am going on a three month blush no buy. Why three months, I want to go for six months, but I want to reassess after three months because six probably will seem too long for me and will make my brain want to quit. I've panned Orgasm, Deep Throat, and Love Lust from the original Tom Ford blushers. Every contour powders I have panned and some bronzers like the Victoria Beckham Bronzer I have panned!

Currently I am on no buy too, since I made lots of high purchases since last September. For now my goal is my birthday (which is in mid May) and I'll only allow myself to buy concealer (I don't have a good one, using up bad ones atm) and maybe mascara (although I have an unused backup I don't know how it performs as I've never used it before) My reasoning is similar. I don't want to grow my collection because I already have nice things I love and I have small space. I want to go back to working out (pilates to be specific) and go on a nice summer vacation. There are more things in life than just make up. 😊 Let's see how it goes.

I'm probably going to leave multiple replies to this comment as I watch because my brain be like that, but oh well. MORE ENGAGEMENT! ✨ It's so cool that you got to study in the Netherlands!! When I was in high school, I was so convinced I was going to go do that: The Netherlands was such a big hub for neuroscience research at that time [IDK about currently] & when I started my first forays into social media starting at 13, I made a lot of online friends from there - mainly a bunch of musicians & hippies from Utrecht, hahah. I'd love to go someday, before the remaining Dutch I learned leaves my brain permanently & I have to start from scratch instead of simply brushing-up. 🙃

If your nail health sucks because they're very bendy & peel [vs brittle & snapping off], I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend the set of Nail Tek 2 with the ridge filler, top coat, & cuticle oil!! I would use it every other time you do your nails since too much formaldehyde can CAUSE brittleness, but in moderation, it helps build the bonds between the layers of your nail so they don't absorb so much water. It's been fantastic!! I'm not trying to grow my nails long, but my nails are much healthier after starting it [& remembering to use cuticle oil every time I wash my hands has also contributed bigtime]

aw that's awesome! i have tried to learn dutch a couple times but fell off each time. and thanks for the nail recs if the problem continues i may invest in some :)
