Because it is the regret that we feel, so many of us wish to have what River had, he was our dream. he had it all and was cut short.

I moved to Florida in 1988, and met River shortly after that, at a party. It was in a high-rise condo, overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. I was out on the balcony, getting away from the crowd. I didn't know anyone there, other than the hostess, and felt out of place. So, I went outside to enjoy the view. A few minutes later, someone came up behind me and said "man, look at that view." It was him, also escaping the crowd, I think. We sat and talked a good while. He was very interested in my work at a children's home in Panama City Beach, and I learned then what he cared about, which was other people and their well-being. He finally asked me if I knew of any good places to eat, and I pointed to one just down the beach. He said "let's go" and we did. For the next five years, we were friends, more so the first three of those than the last two. I know, and have known, some good people over the years, and he was one of the best of them. I'm glad people are remembering him still, and are doing so with love.

I miss you so much and constantly think of something I want to share with you... It was a blessing meeting you in this realm. I can now feel you ..but I still miss you sweet lady, still feels impossible you are not here physically and it really shook me but I know you are now free.. I love you a whole universe dear friend

No, he wasn’t, he was a 23 year old with a drug problem, he was a kind guy, maybe a super nice guy, but let’s not make him a god, he didn’t need to die, and his death was like Jesus.
@Danielle_14_RT
@Danielle_14_RT 4 жыл бұрын
@@CartersRemasters River was a beautiful human being. He cared more about others than he cared about himself. I'm not comparing him to Michael Jackson, but I think they were similar in the way that they were kind, generous, open, and loving people. And as we've seen, they ended up surrounded by people that didn't care about them. They weren't friends. Bottom feeders and fake people that gave them whatever they wanted for money! River was kind to everyone. He was just a good person, period. He lost his way and it's beyond devastating. He had the world at his feet, but also carried the weight of the world. A very messed up childhood. He had to be the father, and support the family because his father was an alcoholic. He said so himself. As he grew up, I think things started to really get to him, and he became depressed and anxious. He hated being famous. He hated photo shoots. He acted because he loved it, and to support his family. It snowballed and he didn't know how to cope, and like many others, celebrity or not, he turned to drugs and quickly got in too deep. I love River, and he's had a big effect on me. He was an old soul, so far ahead of his time. And though it hurts me to say it, he made his choices. Joaquin was messed up most of his life after River died. You can't blame him. Their parents were addicts, and they have many beautiful family photos, where the kids look so happy. I'm sure they were. But they were never taught how to deal with things. River suffered the most, and hid it well. He cared deeply about his family and friends, and even strangers. A kind and loving soul that was there for everybody, but no one was there for him. And that makes me so sad and angry. Rest in Peace, River. "Run To The Rescue With Love, And Peace Will Follow"

I had the immense privilege of meeting River briefly on four occasions. (I'm from Gainesville). Once Joaquin (Leaf, then) was with him, as well. He was very kind in our brief exchanges. The first was in 1988. He never remembered meeting me before each time, LOL (why would he? He must have met thousands of people), until the fourth time, I was flattered he actually did remember me. That was in 1993. I was very sad about what happened. Such a wonderful and talented young man, only here for such a short time. We were all so young, then, we didn't really realize just how short a time it was. But the wonderful thing about pictures, video, film, recordings, etc. is that he's here forever.

There's a hole in my hat Shows a near miss grazing my scalp And my hand are the only injuries I'll stand if I can When I fall, forget me Will you respond if I float in? Yes, welcome me back with a marching band There's a hole in the ozone So life's worth giving up and when I do, now, won't you please forgive me It's not that I've lost 'Cause in a way, well, I've been winning Will you respond if I limp in? Welcome me back with a marching band There's part of you that can't help but to see right through this part of me And so when I go around round and I hit the town And when I can't be found, then you wait for sounds Well it's over you, you're under me, and if it's the way it should be then I won't bother Your point of view is the point in me So when you hear a loud sound it means I'm back from town Now all this night is on my side Ooh like a sitting duck, floating like a swan then flying like a dove Ooh, la, like a sitting duck Floating like a swan and it's all afterthought There's a toll at the bridge If I pay I'm giving in And if I don't then I could always swim it With wings I could fly and avoid the risk of sinking Will you respond if I float in? By now I've forgotten how to use my fins There's a part of you that can't help but to see right through this part of me And so when I go around round and I hit the town And when I can't be found found then you wait for sounds Well it's over you, you're under me, and if it's the way it should be then I won't bother Your point of view is the point of me died And when you hear a loud sound that means I'm back from town now I rarely get to feel, you know, I hardly ever feel in place Like a sitting duck, floating like a swan then flying like a dove Ooh, la la, it's my faulty love In the corner like a dunce it's all self conscious thought

I love this video, so wonderful to see River jumping joyfully full of life as he is playing his guitar and singing his song. And what a great, original song is "In The Corner Dunce"! I don't see or want to see River RIP. I imagine him "making waves" wherever he is, and having even better time than us here who are missing his presence dearly (even if we never were blessed to know him in person) He is our inspiration for good and a comforting presence in our thoughts. Thank you for this video, but I would like to see more things done for River's memory. You have no idea how much his fans love him and how many or us are, all over the world, all different ages and ethnicity and even some fans who were not even born until many years AFTER his passing. God Bless!

0:41 he looks totally like his character in My Own Private Idaho. 1:47 reminds me of him in Dark Blood. Could be exactly like Boy if he had a tan. 1:55 reminds me of him playing guitar and singing in The Thing Called Love. 2:36 same dance he does in Sneakers. 3:35 could be Danny from Running on Empty if his hair was blonder. The footage itself looks kind of like the ending of that movie. It must have been truly electrifying to see a bunch of these shows, I would have never gotten tired of seeing the band perform with River looking so different from concert to concert. Simply watching this video is thrilling.

His life and death still affects me to this day! I was not really into blondes, but when I first saw river in Mosquito Coast in the theater with my parents, I was head of heels. Thank you so much for sharing both your joy and your pain with his fans. I lost my baby brother many years ago he too was very young. 24 My heart truly goes out to you and your siblings. It is a loss that never heals. Although river was six years older than me, I knew he would impact me greatly, very few people in my life have. It is weird and amazing that he has affected so many strangers so deeply and so many years after he left this world. I believe most people have their demons, I have many of my own, but I also believe those that he called "friends" are and will forever be fighting worse demons than even I can imagine. I have often thought of what the world would be like if River has lived, would he have let himself disapear from the spotlight, would he be in Ozzy land right now helping the animals. I wish we could have known a world like that. I get misty eyed when I think of it. Again Rain, from a forever grateful River fan. Thank you for sharing this wish us. I cannot imagine how hard it must have been. I am not sure I could have done it. THANK YOU!

River should still be remembered nowadays ❤ i found out about him after i watched joker with his brother Joaquin. His performance was just so incredible and I remember thinking he was a genius and such an amazing actor. One year later he won an oscar and made a speech, he got very emotional and then later said his brother wrote a lyric saying “run to the rescue with love and peace will follow” that quote never left my mind since then. I found it so beautiful that I had to research who his brother was. and man, what a beautiful name. River Phoenix. After I watched some of his interviews I quickly learned that he seemed to be a really smart and sweet person. I wish many more people of this generation knew about him. he seemed to be really special.

I've never been prone to fits of sentimentality or idolatry but every time i see pictures or stories about River i feel a dreadful echo of the heart-break i felt back in '93 that i can't quite comprehend. I was thinking about this recently and remembered this quote from TKAMB: "“Mockingbirds don’t do one thing but make music for us to enjoy . . . but sing their hearts out for us. Tho I have never met River, he seemed like the friend that would stick up for you and be there for you always, why did god have to take your beautiful soul...thank you for the enjoyable times while you lived on this earth, you beautiful human being ❤ Legends never die RIP River Phoenix ❤❤❤

He was the most beautiful and talented among his siblings and perhaps also the most fragile. 30 years later the pain of his loss deepens because thanks to the Internet I am learning to know him, not only as an actor but above all as a human being through the interviews done with him and with those who had the pleasure of knowing him. Besides, it was nice to hear his wonderful voice, unknown to me until recently, because, being an Italian girl I have always heard him dubbed in my language. River, I saw you for the first time in "Little Nikita" and since then you entered me and never came out. So many things I would like to say, so many reflections I could make but what remains inside is only a great void and the sense of an interrupted life that could have brought you joys and satisfactions and us with you, if only you had taken better care of yourself and if you had had people around you capable of helping you. River, despite your death you are eternal to me, even a thousand years or more can pass, because even if your life was short, your memory will always remain because you were a special person. May you rest in peace. 🌈 ❤

this literally made me so happy, I am listening to it over and over with my mom. I may be 13 and never lived in the 80s, but I would die to see River perform this live. I think he was a wonderful person. It’s sad that non of my friends know him, no one I know knows him which is sad. But River was talented and he was a nice and amazing person!!!!

Ive been a fan for 32 years.. and waited for this moment for the past 20 something years.. you made it worth the wait. and i wish you much success and happiness in your solo career.. after following papercranes for a long time. im so happy a record company was interested in the music still. and was able to get it out on record.. He's still enchanting today. A creative & beautiful soul. He reminds me of my best friend we lost sadly and unexpectedly a few years ago. He was 13 when I met him. Rocking shoulder length blonde hair (so early 90's..:)), carrying poetry in his pocket that he was always writing on napkins & paper scraps. I'd watch him practice guitar for hours. Every time I see River playing, I see my friend too. I love your channel ladies! Great post.
