The only difference I've ever noticed between Purex and Southern Drawl in about $45
@moisescorrea74013 жыл бұрын
Guys I don’t think anyone can argue that professional grade is always going to be better than laundry soap. I don’t think that’s the true question here. I think the true question that effects all of our daily operations is cost!!! We can get laundry grade surfactant for $10... “professional grade” cost on average $50 to the delivery door for a marginal difference in performance. Sooooo is it really worth it???? I’m sorry but I still can’t seem to find the benefit in the extra expense. Just my humble opinion.

Premium results are what matter. How you get those results are irrelevant to the customer. If I can get premium results for 1/10th the cost, that's a winner all day every day for me. And a ten-fold difference in the cost of a consumable is not pinching pennies. Maybe over the course of a job or two, but over the course of the life of your business it's significant. But you do you, every business is different.

SLO MO! Bucket instructions say it's 8 oz per HUNDRED gallons. I've literally bought only one 5 gallon bucket (bought in March or April, 2019, yes, 2 years ago, almost) and I still have around a 5th of it left. I wash everything from concrete, vinyl, stucco, metal, wood, composite decking, skylights, solar panels, steeples, bricks, pavers, asphalt shingles, metal roofing, etc. It never leaves a residue on glass and I use it to clean everything, every time! I can't speak highly enough about it! I still want to get some Southeast Softwash surfactant though simply because I've only read good things about it and I can't wait to see how it compares to Elemonator on scent! I've never used clothes detergent, only pro surfactants, but I have heard of people using Gain in the green bottle and/or Dawn dish detergent, but I wouldn't recommend it for an every day professional. I've always been told not to mix SH with Dawn, but I don't know why or what happens. I'm sticking with the pro soap simply because I know what the outcome will be when I'm finished! North Carolina here. Good video btw! Thanks brother!

Hey Scott for roofs I would just use the cheapest soap cause u need alot of it and for siding u should use the better surfactants like Slang and drawl or elemonator but the real test would be how the two different soaps react to spraying on windows cause some surfactants leave a haze on windows even if you rinse good. Also no offense to the Southwash wand but if the ball valve broke that easy it's pretty delicate! I made my own soft wash wands but use the ball valves for plumbing from Menard's they're pvc alitte bigger then Cody's and I need to use your whole hand to turn them but they won't break. i have always understood dirt isn't the problem in cleaning , it is the oils that bind the dirt to the surface. Does " MORE FOAM " necessarily mean better cleaning ? i know that Dawn dish soap foams like crazy BUT Purple Power which hardly foams CLEANS much better >
@khione80442 жыл бұрын
@Pacos Pete As a soapmaker, who is just getting into learning about pressure washing; I just wanted to explain a bit in regards to your question. The biggest misunderstanding that most people have when understanding bubbles/foam vs cleaning is that the bubbles/foam is NOT what cleans. Many people associate "more bubbles" with "cleaning ability", due to soaps such as dishwashing liquid, laundry detergent, or liquid shampoos/body wash. These are formulated with "lather boosters" to make it more bubbly. So people began to associate "more bubbles" with "cleaning ability". The best example to explain this would be how HE washing machines requires a "low sudsing" detergent. This doesn't mean that it will clean less; it just means that the detergent was formulated without the added lather boosters. Another difference is that "bubbles" and "foam" are actually very different. Bubbles are pretty little pockets of air that is more visually appealing to many people. Foam, is a thick/dense lather, with much smaller sized bubbles. (Dawn is formulated to be "bubbly") So that is why you are experiencing better cleaning with the low foam cleaner, is because it is probably formulated without as many lather boosters, but still has good cleaning ability. As far as I am aware, however, the surfactants used in pressure washing are designed to foam up more, so that it sticks to surfaces longer, rather than easily just sliding down a surface (such as a roof/wall, etc...). Bubbly soaps don't stick to surfaces as well as a foamy soap will. I hope that makes sense!

Just run your pump with only water and soap and do some test. Once you get the suds/thickness right slowly add bleach.

laundry soap isnt made to "suds"... dish soap is... suds in your washer would be a bad thing....

Are you supposed to dilute the soap in the tank? Never knew that!

Yes

I’m having a hard time finding a ratio anyone uses for the wash detergent. I have a water tank that draws from the home with a Hudson valve, then I have a separate tank for my sh. So I would have to put the gain right into the tank. So I use 30 gallons, how much soap do I drop in the tank, I’ve also Ben told to add the soap before picking up my sh. New to the game and just stating my own thing after retiring from PD. Thanks guys

Don't overthink soap. Put some in the bkeach tank and roll out

Extra is cheap soap. GAIN is the best laundry soap to use. Most people buy soap from suppliers because they want to suck up to the people at the stores

Always great content Scott, I use Drawl too. Could you do a vid on SH pls or maybe ask what going rate is, how to get best price. I’m paying $5/gal 12.5%
@ScottCleansIt3 жыл бұрын
It varies on location

It must vary wildly because the pool store here has 10.5% 2.5 gallon jug for $4.70 if in their refill program.
