Laura is probably so admired because she came from a middle-class family and worked like the rest of us to be successful. She worked as a waitress, took voice lessons and struggled to get her talent appreciated. After becoming successful, she then gave it up to support her dying husband. She had her priorities straight. She is just like the girl down the street who put family and relationships with others first. The choir in Heaven got a lot better in 2004 when she made the journey. Peace + Love

Right on!!! I remember hearing about it in the news.. Didn't really think twice.. But a few days ago, on August 17th or the 20th, I was missing my precious father.. Who adored her and listened to Self Control on his Walkman player almost every day the last three years of his life, from 1984 to 1987. So, I was really missing him the other day when I stumbled across the Self Control video here on You Tube. I think I Went to Google.. Or wiki.. To find out how she died, etc. When I did.. A chill ran Down my spine.. I am an only child... I was only 20 when my father died.. Was missing him so so deeply.. And I saw that she died on August 26th, 2004..my father died in 1987..on August 26th. I truly believe my father was telling me how much he loved me..I absolutely know that all of the events leading up to me researching about her life, career, and etc. did NOT just happen that way.. When I read that, I burst out crying....Oh, Daddy...I love and miss you so so much.. As I do miss Laura.. RIP MY sweet, wonderful Father.. And this divinely supreme, gifted woman.. Who grabbed your heart and your soul, and ALL of you while she sang to you.....While She was here, She was At ONE with the universe... and at ONE with YOU.. deep in your heart and in your soul.. She always said her listeners, her audience..were her other half... Her production company was named Other Half Productions... While here, she was an ABSOLUTE gift from God~~As was my Father!!.

I feel the exact same way! I will never get over Laura's songs, as they touch my heart way too much. I wish they would make a movie about her life, but it will probably never happen unless her fans would pay for it, since Laura was too good of a person to have caused any attention getting scandals or such that attract the movie makers. WOW, this vid had like 20,000 views when I first watched it 7 years ago!

Laura's songs helped me thru some tough months. This is one of 4 songs that Laura wrote that are on her albums. Tua it's been a year since I read on her death but if I remember right. The article I read said she was having migraine headache type symptoms and would not see a doctor and not long after that she died from what turned out to be a brain anarism...
