I was in Gainesville in 03 and got to see them in a local bar, even got to hang out with them. They got a keg of guiness at one of their houses. Let me tell you how big of a deal it was for my 21 year old ass to drink guiness out of (pint sized) fruit jars with a band i was too nervous to talk to. There was only like 10 friggin people there lol

Love that Laura mentions that the PIX fans were pissed. Hung in there all the way through New Animals and like some of White Crosses. I just dig the post acoustic, pre-major stuff more. I don’t hate because of a jump to majors like I did when I was in my 20’s, it’s really more about how it resonates with me sonically.

From what I have heard she was getting a single tattoo covered, when on the way she saw a someone jump of a building. This caused such emotional shock she didn’t notice that her tattoo artist blacked out her whole arm.

I think people were just too sensitive and felt like they "owned" bands that came from their scene. I think the diy bookstore basement crowd can be really cool but really insular
