I think what some people are forgetting is that Laura is still recovering from her ankle. Giovanni simply made sure she didn't do anything that could make it worse for her yet still showed off her amazing technique. I praise them both for what they put together💃🏼💫

I am confused to what Gio was actually doing here, was he in a competition to show off himself? Laura was good at the promenade runs and looked confident using her hips. Gio can dance we know that. He is one of the best male Latin dancers to ever be on the show but he should try to keep the dances about his partner. 7.5

Laura still has an injured ankle dealing with. I think Giovanni was trying to compensate for the things she could not do. He should have tried to hide it better though. She will be in the dance off this week and probably will leave because everybody else did well.

Talia Kinney Yeah, she didn't attempt one or two things which is completely fine. Gio could have done many things to compensate Laura not being able to do certain moves. He didn't need to completely outdance her and make her look bad in truth.

Yeah, it felt like he gave up on her a little. i think some Samba rolls could have been incorporated to replace a few of his spins at the end. She would be leaning on him for those and not putting all of her weight on her legs. Oh well, it is what it is. I hope he learns from this.

Did she lose some timing? The music is appropriate, but the tempo is a little too quick for a novice to do a proper Samba (just like what happened with Claudia and AJ). But she did keep the bounce going, and the running promenade was beautifully danced. The last pose she did was a little unsteady though. 8.

***** There are only certain figures and basic steps you can do with a Samba, so of course you will see 'similar' steps here. I do prefer Georgia's Samba last year (which was very quick too), but for Georgia, the music she danced to meant she was 'mucking about' not doing any Samba steps for about 30 seconds in the beginning, but that's the song, not entirely her fault...

If I was as good a dancer as Giovanni,I probably would show off as well. Whether it helps the celebrity is a moot point.Laura is a really good dancer but I think she was in danger of being overshadowed here. There were echoes of his Samba with Georgia last year in which Georgia did brilliantly to match him.

Could have sworn she had more hip action in her Salsa. Her VTs definitely didn't show she was going to be great at the Samba, but she definitely did improve from then till now. Hip action and bounce was missing, somewhat one leading to the other though. I do think Giovanni could have toned down a tad to let Laura shine a bit more, or just done simpler steps for her to pick up the feel of the dance than getting various steps without getting into the mood of the dance. A hesitant 8 from my end.

This was not her dance. She seems more comfortable in Ballroom. Perhaps her ankle injury hindered her in what steps she could do, but Gio over compensated to "cover" her lack of Samba technique.

can't believe i agree with craig - it was a very showy gio dance but maybe he was covering for laura's leg injury. gio is hot and love watching him dance but the choreography made you watch him instead of her - not so great when you're supposed to show off your celeb ;)

A showy Gio is good any time any day any situation :-D Laura just didn't seem into the dance - as if she wasn't trying - she has no charisma - and there was no chemistry between them....such a contrast to last year. IMO she's just not very likeable .

This was a crying shame as Laura had great talent but was not properly presented by her partner. Instead he engaged in a frolic of his own and made her appear the weak link in what should have been a partnership. The lad has a lot to learn despite his obvious dancing talent.
