September 22nd, 1982 - Laura Branigan in a very rare early interview discussing her debut album "Branigan", released through Atlantic Records. She talks about being a new artist in the music industry and how the record contract happened, as well as background on her hit single "Gloria".
At the time of this interview "Gloria" was at #30 on Billboard's Hot 100, it would go on to reach #2 later in the year.

I've been watching a couple of interviews of Laura Branigan these past few days and for some reason at times I felt like some interviewers really tried to make Laura feel bad or tried to discredit her talents and contributions and success because 'Gloria' was a cover or because she was signed to Atlantic Records directly by Ahmet.. I mean she always handled those types of interviews with such class and just being generally sweet but its such a shame that so many of these interviewers did that to her. She at times seemed a bit uncomfortable or even annoyed but bless her for being able to keep her cool. Such a beautiful and talented person she was 😢💗

Right, Whitney Houston didn't write her big hits but it doesn't take anything away from her talent. Laura did help write the English lyrics to Gloria interestingly however, although she isn't technically credited for it.

I agree. The woman interviewing Laura in this video seems to have a subtle bitchiness and contempt in her questions to Laura. It's weird and uncomfortable but Laura handled her perfectly.
