Laura Visitsted The Morning Show with Regis Philbin in early 1984 to promote her single and album Self Control. They discuss her career and the new album. It's a fun interview.

I don't think, she needs to be compared to Celine Dion or Jenifer Rush... both of them were great too, and music isn't a competition. But Laura Branigan had her own style and a great voice. and every time I watch old vids from or with her, I feel the vibs of the 80s... and that feels really good. Thanks Laura, for all the good times

I'm not a big fan of Regis at all but I love the little kiss at the end you would not see that anywhere today on an interview not even between a husband and a wife interviewing each other probably. I think it's so sweet and endearing and makes me miss how life used to be. Political correctness destroyed this world but it's so nice to see Laura I just love her

@Mouse010112 ай бұрын
What are you talking about? PC and “wokeness” is not to blame but times have changed. I still see affection on tv these days but you just have to be careful is all. This kiss on the lips is a bit much for my tastes (germs and diseases) and maybe even a bit creepy. I mean; the man was married at the time. Sexual harassment from men eliminated all of this so don’t blame PC; blame perverts that made women feel uncomfortable over time with unsolicited advances.
@dHolbach772 ай бұрын
So you're saying women (and men) being pressured, or expected, to kiss upon meeting was a good thing? Why? Wtf? I wouldn't want random women kissing me, attractive or not, cheek or not. I'd push them away as I have a right to, as anyone has a right to, without being labeled "not nice" or "anti social". It's like Seinfeld in "The Kiss Hello" (or goodbye): many of us wouldn't be comfortable with that and we have a right to refuse it or not offer it.

If there's anyone to truly compare her to, it's not Celine Dion* or anyone like that... It's MARIAH CAREY. You see, Laura was Mariah before Mariah was Mariah. Laura had a tremendous FIVE AND A HALF OCTAVE vocal range. Does she belong in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? I say yes. Besides the triple Top Ten "The Power of Love", another song of hers was a multiple Top Ten: "How am I Supposed to Live Without You?", of course, was a Top Ten for Michael Bolton. And then, of course, you have "Self Control". GTA Vice City did to that song as Stranger Things did to "Running Up That Hill".

Don't get me wrong, people, I love Laura Branigan, but I think she said a little lie when she said that she wrote Self Control herself. If I'm not mistaken, this is an italian song composed by Raf in 1984. I don't know why she lied, maybe because those previous jokes about her stealing other countries' songs.
