The late Dr. Milton Erickson used to assign his patients a hike up what was then called squaw peak. They were to start our with their problem in mind and when they came down they were supposed to have the answer they were seeking. Like taking a prayer walk or navigating through a labyrinth. This is how I found your channel. Thanks for taking us along on your hikes.

Laura thank you for this video. I am a 64 yr old who has only been climbing for 15 yrs. 1000 foot elevations along the Laguna Beach SoCal coastline. I have driven the I10 south to Tucson over 30 times in my life and never knew there was a trail. I plan to retire in Tucson in the next 7 years but plan ti hike Picacho Peak soon. Thanks again!

In 1986 when I was living in Tucson, I climbed Picacho with two other friends. We did it at night under full moon. It was amazing. Because it was night, it was much cooler. (I would not want to do it in the day in the high 90;s). We started around 9 PM and reached the summit in about two hours.We could hear coyotes howling near by, but other than that it was silent. When we reached the peak, we could here the noise of Semi's on I-10 below us. The moonlight made it seem almost like daytime.We spent a few minutes drinking water and enjoying the view. I loved it. Before we left we signed the guest book that was in a steel box. We got home around 5am. I loved the experience, and I would do it again if i make it back to AZ. A couple of words of advice: bring plenty of water, and wear good hiking shoes.

Just did it again today around 65 degrees. First time 5 years ago at 103 degrees. Better when cooler

Arizona is such a beautiful state, thanks for sharing. Have you visited Colorado? I film mountaineering videos out here. Keep at it!

I've been to Colorado but not as much hiking as I would like. It's high on my list! I've done a lot around the Pacific North West though :)

@@LauraLeanne Oh right on! I haven't done much up there personally, but Rainiers Liberty Ridge is on my radar. I just posted an ice climbing video on my channel if you are into that as well!

Good video and good information! I'm scheduled to hike up Picacho next week and am excited about it. How much water did you actually need to carry? Lastly, any good restaurants on the way the road either heading to Phoenix or Tucson?

Great question! I always fill my Camelback which is 2 l always bring more than you think you'll drink! Casa grande is on your way from there to Phoenix and it has some decent Mexican restaurants! I'm not super familiar with Tuscan though, sorry

I wasn’t isolated at all. It didn’t effect me one bit.

Was there much scrambling on the trail?
@LauraLeanne4 жыл бұрын
Both yes and no. The trail was well marked and almost always a hand rail at least but there were some parts about halfway that had lose rocks.
