I love Grace Kelly, her beauty is timeless, I even wore a dress to one of my proms that looked like something she would have worn, even one of the teachers/chaperones commented that it looked like a dress that she had worn, I paired it with long white gloves and a white wrap that my mother had made for me, the dress itself was simple but beautiful it had a sweetheart neck line with 5 small straps that gathered at the shoulder, the bodice or it was more like a half bodice cause it went just below the breast line was covered in silver and white lace, the dress itself was a-line, kinda fitted, and flared at the bottom, I wore a white satin kitten heel and the jewelry I wore really complimented the dress, being silver, pearls, and cubic zirconia, the earrings, bracelet, and necklace all matched in the same pattern, and I wore my hair up and felt like a classic Hollywood starlet in it all, I still have it all and I'm 40, I kept all 3 of my prom dress, and they all 3 had a vintage look to them. Sorry that was so long, I love vintage things and love your channel and all of your collection and your knowledge.

I simply LOVE your videos! The most fascinating part for me is usually what perfumes were popular. I find that scent is usually a way of expressing oneself, at least for women. I especially get excited when I see any mention of rose or gardenia. For years, I used a gardenia body cream but these days I'm all about rose. My favorite perfume I've tried is a pretty inexpensive one called Fleur D'Oranger which is a fresh scent mix with rose and orange blossom as the top notes. Nice to see some of my favorite actresses went for similar perfumes and nice to find a vintage loving channel like this!

I'm with you! I was a little girl in the 50s and we never went anywhere with out our gloves & nice handbag & shoes! My Mother wore a suttle hat to church EVERY Week! She had about three really nice fitting suits (slim skirts BELOW the knee) & about 2-3 very nice dresses to go to town in or church in the summer! Then she had 2-4 dresses to wear at home! Of course she never set foot in the kitchen without an apron on! She wore Emarude Cream Perfume & Coty Face Powder (applied with a small powder puff) & cream rouge (a tiny bit) then topped it off with Tange lipstick! Very suttle! At the end of the day everything came off with Ponds Cold Cream wiped off with Tissues! Jergins hand cream (that smelled like almonds) Leather Handbags & shoes were well taken care of & a definite part of every outfit! We bought clothes at the beginning of each season & my 2 (much older) sisters & I always had at least one "party dress" for special occasions! Full skirts with crinolines (liquid starched in a wash pan & hung wet on a clothes line for ultimate stiffness) The French twist was part of an evening or "dress up" event! Pearl necklace & earrings was the main jewelry & maybe a charm bracelet! My Mother had a gold wrist watch her plain wedding band & single diamond engagement ring on one hand & a birthstone ring on the other! If we were lucky a birthstone ring would be a present during our teen years & maybe a gold bracelet another time! A watch for graduation or something special! I got a Cinderella Watch one Christmas before I was 10 & I thot I was in Grown Up Heaven! My Sisters wore Bobby socks & "Saddle Oxfords" to school but Patent Mary Janes or Flats on Sundays! I rebelled & insisted I wear either penny loafers or flats to school! Any good winter skirt was topped off with a Twin Sweater Set & Pearl necklace! (I got a single Pearl on a chain bc I was younger) Those were the beautiful times where women were Feminine & Sweet and Men were Masculine, Worked for a living & Protected the Women of the Family!

@1GoldRunner The original commenter said "classic femininity" not your misinterpretated projection of "classic beauty". *Classic* : Judged over a period of time to be of the highest quality and outstanding of its time or a particular style. Something of lasting worth or with a timeless quality. *Femininity* : Having qualities or an appearance traditionally associated with women, especially delicacy, softness and prettiness. The two words combined, creates a matrix of attributes such as poise, grace, charm, refined mannerisms and manners. Any woman from any culture and with any ethnicity can (and have) embody these qualities. Much like present day, the very specific aesthetic of the clothing, hairdos, makeup looks and accessories of the "Grace Kelly era" is something regional, cultural and time-based not ethnicity-based due to the evolution of fashion and style over time. During that particular time in history, many women (from all ethnicities) did not unnaturally process their hair or wear makeup but still carried themselves with what we would consider today to be "classic femininity".
