True and many silent films actors/actresses became less popular when talkies started taking over, because their real voice didn't seem to match with how people had imagined their characters to sound like in the silent film era. Laurel and Hardy were perfect

Several of their last "silent" shorts were also distributed with "synchronized" music and sound effects, via the Victor "sound-on-disc" method. The first "all-talkie" short was "Unaccustomed As We Are" (1929).

@@eggbertinkabod1121 So what? It's the difference between accuracy and misrepresentation. The word "Talkie" means exactly that, synchronized dialogue. This would be more accurately referred to as a "sound film" much like Warner's DON JUAN. It too had synchronized music and sound effects but was NOT a "talkie." That was set afterward by THE JAZZ SINGER, which while a hybrid silent film with synchronized music and sound effects also had talking and singing sequences..

Sound, yes. “Talkie,” no. This is an example of what the industry referred to as “goat gland” pictures-films with music, sound effects and/or limited dialogue, as opposed to “all-talking.” MGM in particular was very cautious about sound, and tested the waters with films like this.

Unaccustomed as we Are was originally a silent movie, but was also made with limited sound versions. In 1929, there were only two other movies made that way; Men of War, and the Perfect Day. Years ago, in the 1980s, I only saw, just ONE time, the silent version of Men of War, and I liked it better than the talkie version. It was shown on TV, on channel 28.

In many ways these 2 where the first talkie stars. They went from silent movies to talkies with ease, they were naturals. Other silent stars like Chaplin couldn't do it and for them it was the end, the end of an era.

This is nothing in terms of an accuracy in comparison to some of the videos and how their titled on KZbin. The uploader really made an effort to be clear on this but there are a lot of different terms that were used then and a lot of different terms that are used now that confuse the assignment film with a synchronized soundtrack and sound effects, the park talking silent film with synchronized music and sound effect, the entire synchronized sound film, the sound on disc synchronized sound film, the optical sound film...

@@chrisseguin1495 that makes sense Chris. It's not a soundtrack on side of the film.. I don't know how they synchronized sound with film. It was like experimentation before they got the film synchronized with sound. It's got to be a lot of Hit and Miss efforts. I know we taking things for granted now but it was a learning experience for the early talkies. We got to appreciate that effort. Thanks for the video
