17 and 18 are actually cyborgs. That's one of those list in translation moments. It's also the basis of the joke a few episides back were Goku says Androids and trunks tries to correct him. They're humans Dr. Gero kidnapped and experimented on. Dr. Gero and 19 are full mechanical beings...minus Gero's brain.

In the original, they were called "Artificial Humans", and the translation basically decided on Androids, based on what they thought they all were. In fact, every creation we see over the course of the main story, the movies and the games, safe for 17 and 18, seemed to have been Androids, but these two are Cyborgs. Fun thing: In the German dub, they exclusively went with Cyborgs, to the point where they are not called Android 17 or Android 18, but C17 and C18.

Remember, up to this point in the story, only #19 was an android (Robot made to look human). The rest were cyborgs (Humans with robotic enhancements). 17 and 18 are blood related siblings, twins to be exact.

I think the key would be to not give debilitating pain receptors as an android. Try to find a way to send the warning signals that pain send without as much mental stress from the pain sensation. In an android, that could just be an internal flag in the code when something isn't working right. The downside is that removing that second feature of pain means they will often push past the point of irreparable damage, which may or may not matter to the creator.

in terms of vegeta, the legend of becoming a super saiyan typically states that you have to reach a state of unbridled rage or raw emotion and the show's actual explanation for how vegeta gets it is that he's so enraged by the fact that he's weaker than goku and unable to catch up to him in terms of strength that it effectively fills that criteria and allows him to transform while he's training in space

Just to clarify: in the original anime, Goku was infected by a new virus which the cure would only be created years after he was dead. Vegeta is only helping them because he wants to defeat Goku himself, hence why he was saying "mine mine mine mine mine" in the previous video. Also, most of the Senzu bean throws don't exist in the original manga, it's just a way to make fun of Krillin, and I love it.

A pain limiter would be great. you'd only ever get enough pain to know you're in danger, to stop yourself from doing whatever (hand on stove, fighting Vegeta, ect) but not so much that you can't function anymore. Arm getting ripped off wouldn't make you pass out or stop fighting, but you'd be fully aware of it being bad.

Becoming a Super Saiyan depends on the number of S-Cells in your body. You can increase your S-Cells by increasing your battle power, although if you're a Saiyan wigh a gentle nature, you'll actually have a greater number of S-Cells and an easier time transforming into a Super Saiyan. That's why it's a legend, Saiyan's are so violent by nature they actually screwed themselves out of being able to transform. Because Vegeta is so violent, it took him a lifetime to develop the number of S-Cells necessary, then his crying about not being a Super Saiyan was legitimately so painful for him that it served as an emotional trigger for his Super Saiyan transformation. The same way Krillin's death did for Goku, and how "X" did for Trunks.

The secret behind the Super Saiyan transformation is anger/rage. When Goku first transformed, it was triggered by the overwhelming rage he felt at watching his best friend get murdered right in front of him by Freeza. In the actual show, Vegeta first transformed because his prideful self couldn't stand the thought of Goku, a lower class Saiyan warrior, being a Super Saiyan when he wasn't - hence the joke cutaway of "I WANNA! I WANNA BE A SUPER SAIYAN! I WANNA I WANNA I WANNA I WANNA I WANNA!" And yes, I agree, Krillin is being a good potion mule for the party. X3 YES! I knew I couldn't be the only person to add a #3 to Dr. Gero's line. Though in my case, I went with "Are those things?" to talk about a game update without spoiling anything. :P Yeah...that "I don't listen to bastards" line? That peaks in episode 39. You'll know exactly when it happens, because of the shocked silence immediately following it. Just know that Vegeta's gonna say something that goes just that teensy bit way too far over the line... And yes, this saga is a lot of people's favorite, for a few reasons. For me, this was the first saga I saw on TV as a kid, and then seeing what TFS did for it blew my mind all over again. It gets absolutely nutty, and I'm always here for it. Loved the reaction as always! Looking forward to the next couple, actually. It's gonna get *really* spicy, real quick.

If you dampen down the pain to a tiny amount you still don't get any info on how in danger are you. After a year like that you have no idea whether you got stung by a mosqiuto or hit by a car. You sense of danger falls asleep and suddenly you keep landing in situations that you would otherwise avoid because they hurt in the past.

The super Saiyan transformation seems to work like a stress response to coming short of a need in a similar way that an extremely hungry person may have an extra since of courage to take risk to get food. It seems to be triggered and accessed with an emotional response of desperation or determination. It resembles parents' anxiousness and furiousness that they may have when someone or something threatens the safety of their children or the phycological state of a child who has been getting bullied when he or she decides that he or she has had all that could be took and that they will take no more no matter the cost.

This is by far TFS's best work. Season 3 is where they stop writing jokes and dialogue and start writing Characters. There was consistency before this of course but S3 has so much downtime where things happen outside of fighting that their takes on the characters can really shine.

Absolutely. When they started with season 1, it was just a fun thing they were doing. They generalized the characters and made one off jokes. When the series became popular they put more effort into season 2. Better jokes and running gags. Pay off that appeared episodes later and they started to define the characters as well as developed better editing skills. Season 3 is just on a whole different level. They worked on the entire season and polished the writing hard. The down side is it took months between episodes but frankly the wait was worth it.

Backstory? Backstory. 17 and 18 were ordinary teenagers named Lapis and Lazuli who ran away from home. They got kidnapped by Dr Gero who turned them into cyborgs, They're the only two successful cyborgs. Every other creation of Dr Gero's was a full Android with no organic parts. However, a certain Android you'll come to meet soon was modelled after Dr Gero's son who died.

Dosent really work like that unfortunately. It’s ether all or nothing when it comes to pain and pleasure receptors. It’s ether on or off can’t pick or choose. Also no you would not want that our bodies are not well made without pain as a limiting factor you can shred muscles easily and then just continue shred them because nothings telling the brain to stop.
