Akira Toriyama is the author of Dragon ball. Tori means bird that's why Goku named the bird Toriyama in the Revenge of Cooler movie. In the original first opening of Dragon Ball Z there is this line: "Toketa kōri no naka ni Kyōryū ga itara tamanori shikomitai ne" which roughly translates to "If there is a dinosaur in the melting ice I want (you) to teach it how to ride a ball"

So on the Kami-Kame thing, Kame House is the house on the island, "with the turtle". Kame means turtle and the old guy, Master Roshi Is called the turtle hermit. Kami is the old Namekian but Kami is just his title as guardian of Earth, and it means god (sorta, it comes from Shinto which has a different concept of divinity, but close enough).

I know I mentioned it in the comments I left on the last two reactions, but especially after the creator commentary that TFS made I always enjoy seeing how people react to Vegeta going way too far in just three words. Or...one word, really, but still. The moment it's said, he's not in control anymore. And the fact that they got every other character to be shocked at the line too...I think that's what helps sell it for me. Up until she breaks his arm. YES! I've been waiting for this too. In the original show, Mr. Popo got nervous at the drop of a hat, and it didn't make much sense to change that too much for this part of the show. So...they had him be high off his balls, as Lani himself put it. He also said in their commentary that he remembered standing in their recording booth for 5 minutes straight just repeating "All these squares make a circle" over and over again. X3 And yes, it IS ominous... But yeah, I finally became a member because of your reactions to the series! Looking forward to next week as always. Can't help but think you'll have...a perfect reaction to what comes next.

Some lore for context on what Piccolo's about to do! Way back when, there was a nameless Namekian who grew up on Earth and really wanted to be the next Kami. He got so desperate that he went and literally purged all the evil out of himself... aaand THAT'S when he made an oopsie. While the purified half became Kami, his purged evil turned into a twin called the Demon King Piccolo, who tried to take over the world. That... didn't work out. After hundreds of years of being sealed, Piccolo was freed and tried again, but was beaten by a young Son Goku. But Piccolo spat out an egg that hatched into his reborn self (and good thing, too, cuz if Piccolo actually died then Kami would as well). The new Piccolo faced Goku years later for revenge. That... didn't work out, either. Then Raditz showed up, and you know what's been happening from there. Now Piccolo's about to rejoin with Kami, and that power-up will be a whole other league from when he fused with Nail.

Android #16, especially the Abridged version, to me, is the most adorable character in this. So gentle, seemingly not the killing machine Dr. Gero seemed to intend on making. I'd want to take him to a zoo if he were real, first an aviary of course, but then tell him: "there's animals other than birds you may be interested in seeing!" and take him to a zoo, show him the lions, tigers, bears, monkeys, chimps, gorillas etc. I think he was a wasted character in a sense that he would've been amazing to have been kept in the series. I think he'd be a Park Ranger with #17 if he were in Super :)

All these squares make a circle... All these squares make a circle... : ) So a bit of piccolo history 101 (not going to spoil). Long ago a super namekian came to earth and split himself in two. His good side became Kami. The evil side became King Piccolo. Both grew old but King Piccolo managed to use the dragonballs to regain his youth, then tried to take over the world. Goku put a stop to that but not before King Piccolo spit out an egg. Thus was born our Piccolo who started semi-evil, but he was more like a rival to Goku. It wasn't until he kidnapped Gohan that he started to open his heart up and eventually become good himself, even sacrificing himself against Nappa back at the start of DBZ here. But he is tied to Kami still, that is why if one dies so does the other.

love the reactions, if you wanna watch the DBZA Kai episodes they made (abridged recap of the abridged series, so VERY short). once you pass episode 45 (midway to the end) you can watch Kai ep 1,2, and 3 DO NOT WATCH EPISODE 3.5. Kai 1 covers ep 1-10 Kai 2 covers ep 11-30 Kai 2.9 (not mandatory) covers ep 31 Kai 3 covers ep 32-43 Kai 3.5 covers 44-60 I highly reccomend watching them before the final stretch (45-60) because this is the longest arc and watching them just before episode 60 will leave a Kai gap from 44-59. But its up to you, this is the longest youtube comment ive ever written. Love the reactions, keep up the good work, see you next friday (thank goodness friday doesnt start with a C)

Other fantastic abridged series by other creators include Sword Art Online Abridged and Goblin Slayer Abridged. All or any of them is worth a shot in my opinion! Secondly, the whole reason they did it is because the original version has Popo being nervous due to the goings on, but OUR Popo would never be that nervous for any reason. So the big ginger Android you love? In the show he's an android modeled after Dr. Geros (old man androids) son, who was a member of the red ribbon army. Dr geros son just happened to be at the red ribbon army base that goku turned into a steaming crater during the original dragonball.
