Which you can actually see with his energy aura. Generally speaking, a person's natural energy aura is white, save for a few villains (hence why Vegeta is the only hero to have a naturally blue aura instead of white). However, Cell's energy aura is gold, which is otherwise exclusive to super saiyans.

@@Dima-ug7zo It's not head canon. It's aesthetic consistency. He has a golden aura, and the golden aura is exclusive to super saiyans. So it stands to reason that his body contains DNA taken from a super saiyan, resulting in that golden aura. Most likely either Goku or Trunks during the battle against Mecha Frieza, depending on the timeline.

@@Dima-ug7zo A solid point, but Golden Frieza also has the same golden aesthetic as a super saiyan. Meaning how the power-up affects the body is probably similar. Whereas the only place Cell could've gotten a golden aura was from the super saiyans at the time. Otherwise his aura would've been either white, purple, or blue to match his genetics. Everything else about his character is fit to match those of his cells. There's no reason to assume his energy aura is any different.

Of course, this beam attack being Vegeta's signature move changes very soon to a new one he uses against Cell. Freeza did the same thing when he was telling the story of killing King Vegeta. He answered the King's "Freeza, may I please have a word with [you?]" with "Sorry, you can't!" It was another joke about how in the 90s, people made up what "shoryuken" was because they didn't understand Japanese. I think most people miss that joke and think that he just says straight "Shoryuken" because of the edits and SFII framing--incidentally, that misunderstanding is part of the joke.

Cell is already a Super Saiyan. In his first form, he was a Super Saiyan when he beat Piccolo and fought #16. He reverted to his base form when he absorbed #17, so it was his second form's base power that instantly outclassed #16. While fighting Vegeta, Cell turned Super Saiyan after taking the first few hits and it wasn't even enough to make Vegeta react meaningfully. He's as strong as he can be without absorbing #18 while getting beaten into the dirt at the end of episode 50.

Funnily enough though, the way TFS wrote it Cell wasn't doing that. He just completely lost his patience and decided to wipe out the entire archipelago hoping to flush #18 out of hiding by making her panic. When she didn't flee, he accepted killing #18 as an outcome to his tirade, thinking it possible he might have already killed her and just deciding to finish wiping out the island chain. Hence, 'in for a penny'.

In the manga, Cell even injects an acid + nutrient mixture into a person's body, which liquefies everything, including the bones, and then drinks them, just like a spider would do.

But they also said earlier, that they are not that happy, that they wrote him like total dick in the Freeza Saga. Edit: Also Gohan simply wasn't strong enough to turn SSJ at this point. He trained a whole year with Piccolo and Goku before the Androids attacked.

YES! THE BEGINNING OF THE TRUE PEAK VEGETA IN THE SERIES! Yeah, episode 49 is the first episode I know of that got the copyright treatment. Glad my warning ahead of time helped avert confusion. The Snidely Whiplash! You were thinking of the Snidely Whiplash! Because his usual blue undershirt is mostly hidden by his iconic orange gi. Opposites on the color wheel and all. Also orange really brings out his stupid face. :P TFS made a full version of Moustache! You should absolutely give that a listen too. Close! It's Galick Gun. Goku has referred to it as Garlic Gun a couple of times as a result :P Trunks freaked out at the end of 50 because Cell is absolutely playing Vegeta. Vegeta's pride/ego is such that if you say he'd lose a fight, he'll let you do anything just to prove you wrong...often with expected consequences. But that does lead us to the ultimate peak Vegeta reaches in the show, which you'll see when you watch episodes 51 and 52. TFS even remade the original music used for that scene, which makes it so much more powerful. Looking forward to the next reactions!

8:11 It used to be a plotpoint in late Dragon Ball and early DBZ that his blue undershirt, boots and wristwraps are weighted, part of Goku's training under Mr. Popo and Kami. Later on that extra 120 kg wasn't that meaningfull anymore, so I wonder if it still is weighted nowadays.

Any time someone acts outside of a child custody agreement without probable cause, it could be considered kidnapping. Gohan's situation is actually kind of tricky. Both parents have equal custody since there's never been a court order involved. She agreed to letting Goku take him. Gohan is doing it under some degree of duress, but it's because the fate of the world is at stake. Not to mention it's only 24hrs in real time. Fortunately, it's a fictional world, and no judge or lawyer has to actually deal with it.

Gohan neither had the physical block nor the mental block at the time. Goku was already physically strong, but the reality that krillin was gone for good, because he already died once and came back to earth dragon balls, and the namekian dragon balls turned to stone because guru died. He was already tapped out, and couldn't save his friend from frieza. That failure was his mental block that pushed goku over the edge and it gave him his super saiyan.

The thing about Cell is, he has Vegeta and Frieza's DNA, alongside Goku's. He inherited personality traits from every major source of his genetic composition. Underestimating his opponent is a very Vegeta thing to do, while the Goku in him, and the Vegeta to an extent, makes him want a good fight so he can test his limits. But when he starts to lose, the Frieza kicks in, and he refuses to accept that anyone can be stronger than him. Basically, Cell's greatest strength is the combination of personality traits making him a prodigy in battle, but it's a double edged sword, because it comes with the negative traits that cause him to have a very powerful, but equally fragile, ego.

Whenever a DBZ villain starts to lose, if they don't have a transformation to fall back on, or if they're not holding back most of their power, they basically go into the mindset of "how DARE you be stronger than me" and do something foolish, or they try to blow up the planet. Sometimes both.

Frieza on the other hand powered up to his absolute limits but not beyond that. While this did drain a lot of his energy, it only did so as time passed. At the very beginning of the fight, he was giving Goku a lot of trouble
