That first punch on Gohan after Cell was at full power is one of my favourite DBZ moments. It's so simple, but it really conveys the sense of force behind the hit for some reason.

He was so strong that Gohan's hand penetrated Cell's torso. And the second one was to the chin and then Cell fell twice in shock with only two punches knocking him down. Cell can strengthen himself at will, but he won't surpass Gohan because he doesn't have his cells.

The thing I love about this episode that is overlooked is we finally see Cell's real power and can finally understand the whole time he wasn't bluffing or boasting about none of the other Z Fighters, even all of them combined fighting him at once, standing a chance against him once he was complete. He was telling it like it is the entire time from day one and no one wanted to believe it until it was undeniable. Gohan was the wild card he couldn't have accounted for.

Goku would not have beaten Cell even if he ate the bean the zenkai boost would not be enough to bridge the gap in from Goku to Cell powerlevel

Especially because zenkai boosts are not a thing anymore for our saiyans at this point. Vegeta didn’t get any boost from being destroyed by #18 and Cell.

Goku could've won if he ate a Senzu Bean and never gave one to Cell. Cell lost a decent amount of his power in the Goku fight. He was breathing hard after he had to regenerate from the Instant Transmission Kamehameha and don't forget Cell had to regenerate from Vegeta's Charged Final Flash as well previously. So it's not hard to believe a fully healed Goku could beat him after the battles he already been thru with Vegeta, Trunks, and Goku. Cell got cocky showing off too much instead of just ending his fights quickly and that Senzu Bean saved him.

This episode broke our school the morning it aired, EVERYONE was raving about Cell being so badly damaged by just two punches. The teachers gave up and let us all talk about it lol. It was event television for us as kids.

They were supposed to end it in the frieza saga. That’s why Akira wrote frieza always saying “I’m the strongest in the universe” to hype up the ultimate endgame. Then when that happened the fans weren’t satisfied. So then Akira wrote up this saga, he put so much effort that he made Gohan the next hero of earth, but then that didn’t work either. I think even the piccolo jr saga was meant to be the end of dragon ball

I'll never forget watching this as a kid and then going nuts about it at school with my friends. The Cell Saga was the best parts of my childhood. As for Goku, Cell was always toying with him as we see here, he only went full power against Gohan. Even if Goku had infinity beans it wouldn't matter since Cell was only at like, 20% against him. He was breathing hard and looked tired only because he was at 20% but he could have gone up at any time.

I think its fair to point out even tho the official name is super saiyan 2 at this point it was known as the ascended super saiyan. This was what goku and vegeta was talking prior to entering the time chamber. Not the super vegeta muscle form or the form trunks had. It was this.

I absolutely love to staredown down. Gohan has no emotions at this point. Those have been pushed out of him by Cell. Thoes are eyes of a ruthless Saiyan, and you know Trunks is very proud seeing a younger version of his master like this. My favorite part of all this is when Trunks gave Vegeta the sensory bean when they zoomed in on his face. And then on the bean as well that was so funny. 😂😂😂

When Krilin watched Gohan from behind he certainly remembered when Gohan was a 4 years old crybaby. They have to go through a lot of adventures together, like when he was young with Son Goku. Cell will get a good punch after just two blows, first to the torso until Gohan's hand went deep and then to the chin. Cel felt it, you can see it in his facial expression, it made him fall over. Gohan is now the strongest of all the Z fighters gathered here.

No man, I think you've misunderstood, Goku couldn't beat Cell up even if he'd taken that Senzu Bean. Cell is a lot more powerful than he is at this point in the story. When both of them fought, Cell wasn't fighting with his full strength, he was just playing around, toying with Goku, and that was proved today on this episode. And you're right, It was Goku in that frame, It was a dub error in the English version by Funimation, they probably mistook Goku for Gohan, because in the original Japanese version It is Goku in that frame.

Well let's be honest, he actually could because they had so many beans. He could eat it probably until cell got tired and he could destroy him afterwards. But yeah 1 single bean maybe, but I'm not sure about him getting outclassed or anything like that since Cell was already a bit tired after fighting Goku.

@@KaizenReactions At the end of their fight, he (Cell) even suggested Goku to eat a Senzu Bean so they could continue fighting. Cell knew full well that, even if Goku had taken one, two or whatever the number of Senzu Beans, It wouldn't be enough to close the gap between their powers, otherwise he would never suggest something like that, and Goku knew that as well. That's why, from the very beginning, the plan was for Goku to fight first so he could show to Gohan how Cell fought, since he was already aware that Gohan was the only one with a power great enough to destroy Cell once and for all.
