The reason why they were edited out is because the editor Kaiser absolutely hates them. They were added to the anime as filler characters and they completely wreck the comedy that Mr. Satan provides as an observer to the tournament. Kaiser stated he preferred painstakingly editing those characters out rather than write any dialogue for them, so that’s what he did.

I vaguely remember that him defeating King Piccolo was something known by the King of the World, But the world at large just didn't knew that some mysterious kid defeated him. Followed by Goku defeating Piccolo Jr. at the Tournament, but his actual defeat was after the entire arena was destroyed, likely along with any and all television cameras. so the whole threat to the world was actually a complete unknown.

While there will be small numbers of people who remember some specific event happening, the world really does just move on and people forget stuff all the time. Kind of like Cell's whole Cell games announcement and Mr Satan and his PR team basically running revisionist history to practically overwrite everyone's recollection of the event.

Before Z, when tournaments were a common thing, you'd see some stuff like this (the announcer guy from those knows the crew), but that's about it. Another important thing to note is that the World Martial Arts Championship that Mr. Satan won was the first in history (in universe) to be televised. So while all of the people who saw the OG crew do all the crazy shit in the original series do know that shit exists, they are a very miniscule minority by comparison. For the most part, nobody really knows about this stuff, considering it just myths and fantasy.

"Vegeta is really gonna let him go?" At this point it's a game. If Vegeta gives in, Tien wins... and he knows that. Trunks with long hair again was due to him going into the time chamber a second time. TFS just cut that part out. For the techniques, they're not really considering them "stolen," but basically Cell knows these techniques due to his genetic makeup. From Goku's perspective, he's claiming Cell won't get anywhere using the same moves Goku's encountered before. For Goku, even as a child, he's always had a habit of copying techniques done by others - especially from Tenshinhan. It was a slight reference to the Monkey King in Journey to the West being able to mimic others. Just be happy you have all the episodes like this. Between episode 59 and part one of episode 60, it took an entire YEAR. TFS really wanted to make sure everything came out perfect.

Also, I will say for the record: My personal suggestion is to do 59 and 60 part 1 together, then do parts 2 and 3 in another video. Without spoiling anything, part 1 ends on a GREAT moment and cliffhanger, and I'd argue 59 and 60 pt 1 flow into each other more than 60 pt 1 does with the rest of "60" as a result. Part 2 has a cliffhanger as well, but it leads more naturally directly into part 3. All 3 parts are connected, yes, but even more than episode 10 or 30, they are basically their own complete episodes imho.

Ironically enough what most people don't realize was that after the fight between Piccolo and Goku they decided to disban the world Martial arts tournament and that was technically 5 years before the main storyline of dragon Ball z, and another 6. But the fact that the martial arts schools are the only ones that actually know anything about the martial arts powers and depending on who you went to school with either the crane school or the turtle School it pretty much would not have been a serious factor. Why is it called stealing techniques? Because Goku wasn't actively taught them. He learned Kamehameha, Solar Flare and Destructo Disc just from witnessing them, which admittedly is a testament to his sheer talent, but he didn't look to learn directly FROM their original users. He technically "reverse-engineered" them. Kaioken wasn't stolen but here he was almost gonna give himself sole credit for learning it.

The techniques Goku was legitimately taught aren't stolen obviously, but Goku absolutely DOES steal techniques. The prime example being his signature move, the Kamehameha. Stealing or being taught, the point they're making is that Goku is like a swiss army knife of the greatest techniques of others. Vegeta by comparison is almost the polar opposite. He prides himself on being self-taught and developing all his own special moves. Especially at this point in the story, anyway.

In dbz people knew about the flying because there where tournaments where goku was little when he fought king piccolo and piccolo jr (thats the piccolo you know from this) and they where flying there. Funny thing is. Everybody cannonly forgets about the superpowers every time because they only do the tournaments for fun every so years because the tournaments became boring and is just between the people from the gang. But they all know each other from the tournaments. Except from the androids the sayens and the sayen children.

A few things to clarify. 1. Vegeta wanted Cell to kill Mr. Satan cause he stole his line. Trunks asked Vegeta earlier if he really believed his own hype that much, and Vegeta responded, "I am the hype." 2. Tien wasn't being snooty when commenting on Cell using the multi-form technique, he was basically saying that neither Goku or Cell were taking the fight seriously and are just messing around because by creating four clones with that technique you're cutting your power down to 25 percent per clone, which means most of the Z-fighters could defeat one of the clones in a one-on-one fight fairly easily, so Cell is only using it for fun and Goku doesn't destroy them immediately so he can have fun too. 3. The Goku stealing techniques thing is more in response to Goku saying, "You'll never beat me with stolen techniques." Almost all of Goku's moves are ones he learned from others so Goku is being pretty hypocritical by looking down on Cell for using "stolen" techniques.

Learning techniques and drinking techniques are 2 very different things

Vegeta let's Tien crack at him because in a earlier episode Krillin acknowledge the same thing and Tien stated "It's a game at this point. If he gives in, I win. And he knows that" basically, if he attacks Tien, Vegeta confirmed to be too sensitive.

33:42 Its more like every other character have their own different arsenal and Goku just uses other people's techniques. He does use these techniques with more creativity, but its still other people's techniques. (He never claims its his though) It all plays on him being a Monkey Boy. (Before the whole saiyan arc thing, specially when he was a kid, he used to have a monkey tail). And well, his deal sorta is "monkey see, monkey do". Without counting variations of existing techniques, Goku only has one original technique to his name, and its not even canon, as its in one of the movies (that TFS didnt get to adapt, sadly). Also, another layer to the joke is like, sometimes they claim certain techniques are like .. like they say it belongs to someone even though everyone can do it by just watching it. Or, for example, with Vegeta, they claim Vegeta's move its when he starts raining down energy balls on his oponent, like its some kind of practiced technique and not just Vegeta spamming energy balls that everyone can do, and doing it fast because he is desperate. And, if you want to go deeper, a lot of those attacks are just the same beam with a different name, lol

Mr Satan clearly has the Doubting Tomas flaw from the Tabletop RPG Savage Worlds XD. If I remember rightly most of the techniques Goku uses were not actually taught to him but he has an innate talent for understanding and figuring out how techniques are done by just seeing them - He learned the Kamehama Wave after seeing Master Roshi do it once when he first met him which shocked Roshi as he states it took him nearly a 100 years to create and master it.

Each character is presented with their own techniques they developed, but since we’ve followed Goku from the start who essentially starts with nothing we only see him use techniques others have used before. In the original show he does comment about Cells “stolen techniques”, but this is TFS making a little jab about how none of Gokus moves were actually created by him either. Goku DOES find creative uses of some techniques, such as using a Kamehameha with his feet to propel him forward, but doesn’t use anything that wasn’t taught to him by someone else.

Fun fact about Goku, he has an ability called Adaptive Learning. Basically he can see a technique once and perfectly copy it. He did it with the Kamehameha, the Solar Flair, Multi-Form and most of his other techniques. Majin Buu also has the same ability

My take on it is, ki-training is nearly a forgotten art (and why wouldn't it be? It's a pain in the butt to learn and only a few people get really good at it), so most people's understanding of martial arts is that it's like how things are in the "real" world. I'm sympathetic to Mr Satan making flimsy excuses for everything he sees too. His entire life's experience is that 1) martial arts is all about punches and kicks, and 2) he's seen enough special effects to know that you can fake a lot of things. So he's approaching this from his understanding of how the world works. Honestly, I've seen a lot of people be more obstinate about matters that are far easier to accept.

Yeah, Tien has the upper hands in his verbal fights with Vegeta. Not only does he have the better more stinging one-liners and comebacks 'How many Goku's have you beaten?' (because it's true), but after Trunks returned to his timeline he said: "It's a game. If he kills me, he looses. And he knows that." So yes, Tien absolutely gets away with it.

I always took it as Hercule can’t use Ki to fly or shoot blasts so he tries to downplay their skills so people don’t realize how incredibly he (the people’s champion) is underpowered. If he can’t reassure people that he has the power to save them after telling them that he is the strongest in the world then it’s all over.

In the original show those people that Cell blew up who weren’t in the manga were added in with Satan on the sidelines were cut back to constantly and were extremely annoying. So Team Four Star removed them completely from the show and edited them out of almost every shot they were originally in except one the was missed. So the running joke is that their ghosts haunted the battlefield

To be fair, Chichi basically forced Goku to marry her by holding him accountable for a promise he actually didn't make, she can't complain. (and I'm not saying that just because Goku didn't know what mariage was back then, if you go back to the moment he allegedly "promised" to marrry her, you'll see he actually didn't promise anything)

The only techniques Goku was "taught" are the kaioken, the spirit bomb and the instant transmission (tho in the dbza cannon he technically just was able to do it after he ate sick aliens) The Kamehameha he literally saw being done once and he just did it his thing, same as the solar flare except I think he saw it being done a couple of times, the rest of the fighters actually developed at least one of their attacks
