I am a stylist in LA and I am new to this area of West Hollywood. I need to go out and find models, what is your approach to talking to random strangers on the street to get them in??

I used to walk the opposite direction. Find someone who’s hair I liked and said. “Hey can I ask you something?” They probably thought I was going to ask for directions lol and then I would say something like I love your hair and you would make a perfect model for this( look) I want to photograph. And if they are interested I would book them on the spot with my physical schedule😉

I would avoid using canva at all costs! The name of the game on IG is authenticity. Text, borders, collages and fancy font templates scream “this is an ad” I would start by posting broll reel of you working and doing simple tasks around the salon like folding towels, seating a client, doing a consultation, mixing color, and pair it with an on screen hook and text in the caption. ❤️

Keyarah Breaun hey keyarah! So glad I could help! I usually have my clients book their own appointments online and I help them do it if they need it. But I find prebooking makes them make impulsive decisions and leads to more cancellations. So I try to give them advice for when to book but don’t usually do it for them ❤️

I started sharing what I was doing and developing different ways to achieve results that clients were really wanting. And people started asking me to come to their salon and teach! And I think the main reason why is because I just was already doing it! When I would get excited about something I was doing, I couldn’t help but share! This attracted people to what I was doing and they wanted to do it to! ❤️

Say you live in Los Angeles. You would want to do things like #lahairstylist #lahairdresser #lahair also everytime you post there is an option to add location! Make sure to always do that!
