Fabulous. It always confused me aboout quartering, not realising that you dont use the shoulder seam. My necks always worked out well because I just used my common sense realising that the front scoop is longer. But your instructions were brilliant. I love your Scottish accent too. Thank you. You are never too old to learn I am 75 and been sewing since I was 12.

This has been a huge help to me. After managing to make my wife a T-Shirt I bought a pattern to make myself a sweatshirt. The instructions for the neckband (along with fuzzy photos) left me very confused but this video made everything clear. I realised after watching the video that I bought the material for the T-shirt from your shop so thanks again for helping me advance my sewing ambitions.

You seem to instinctively know what the viewers/students need to learn, how to explain it in an easygoing, pleasant manner and anticipate questions. I so wish you had a series of learn to sew dvds to purchase! You have a wonderful teaching voice and style. Your garments are also beautifully made. Thank you for sharing your gifts with us. Thank you for this Lauren. I used to sew a lot...decades have passed and I've taken it up again but I'm finding a lot has changed. New products, different types of fabrics and techniques...I'm not as confident as I once was. I was dreading doing the neckband on a knit top that was coming out really good as I didn't want to mess it up in the home stretch. Your tutorial helped me out immensely - it made a lot more sense than the instructions!

OMG Lauren you have saved my sanity! I am relatively new at dressmaking, although I have been a sewing machinist for over 30 years in soft furnishing. I thought I would try making a dress in ponti Roma fabric (which is a first for me). But I became totally unstuck when trying to add the neck binding, even though there was a step by step phamplet instructions! I started at 8am yesterday unpicking the binding, sewing back on again, only to find it still didn’t lay flat, then I thought blow this I have enough fabric left to start again. But then I messed the neck binding again and noticed a click in front of the bodice! I never stopped all day 🤪trying to get it right, (part from meals)! So at midnight I went to bed with a heavy heart. This morning I found your wonderful tutorials, and I realised where I was going wrong, so I thought I would follow your step by step video and give it another try. Yea! yea! I have done it! So thank you, thank you, Thank you! I wish I could hug you, you are an angel💝💝💝

Greetings from Boston, I really enjoyed your recent videos especially your tips. I usually serge around the band after I sew it on and then top stitch around the main fabric just under the band. I like the look of the twin needle. I will try your method on attaching the band using the seam on the back and finishing with the twin needle today on a top I plan to make. Please keep posting sewalongs and helpful hints. 👍

Very, very informative video. Thank you. I did check my manual for twin needle sewing and it read to only put one of the threads through the guide that is just above the needle. This will help to prevent tangling of the threads against each other. Just a hint in case you have to sew an extra long area and you get some tangling.

Thank you. This was wonderful. I do not think it would be possible to make the instructions any clearer. My plan is to make my own T-Shirt. I am looking to make a very comfortable top that is longer, and maybe have splits down at the bottom. I am also thinking of a neck that would be wider, maybe a V-neck not sure yet. My plans are grand, for a beginner. :) So far I have copied a pattern from a small kids T-shirt. The idea here was to make it small, (Less material) and to use my old T-Shirts as a material source, for making these practice tops. I need to checkout more of your guides. Thank you and keep them coming.

Thanks for such great informative video! I made my first t-shirt today using the free hemlock T pattern. I am very pleased with how it turned out but there were issues with the shoulder join as I used the open shoulder method you showed and my sewing machine is quite basic. However now I have watched this I am itching to make another and use the loop method. Also thanks for explaining the triple stretch stitch - I have it on my machine but was confused as it looked like a normal straight stitch and I was expecting 3 separate lines - DOH!
